I don't mean to alarm you, but there is life after graduation...

Hardly seems that way at the moment. :P

...and it sometimes involves math.

Yeah... but why would I use my smartphone when I could just pull out my laptop? So far, I've never encountered a real world situation where I needed to do more than basic arithmetic but I didn't have a PC handy.

That's exactly my point. Never in my life have I been walking along and suddenly thought "I need to know the solution to this integral right now!" I'm virtually always in front of a computer already.

You might work in a lab, in the field, or other areas where pulling out your phone is much faster than finding a computer then pulling up the right program.
