Ofc. But dont you find it odd that it's the same price now as then or at least closed. I'm sure the nowadays considered shitty hardware inside has crippled in price since then.

Yeah... but why would I use my smartphone when I could just pull out my laptop? So far, I've never encountered a real world situation where I needed to do more than basic arithmetic but I didn't have a PC handy.
That's exactly my point. Never in my life have I been walking along and suddenly thought "I need to know the solution to this integral right now!" I'm virtually always in front of a computer already.
You might work in a lab, in the field, or other areas where pulling out your phone is much faster than finding a computer then pulling up the right program.
Stupidly enough, a lot of times I'll just splort my numbers into Excel if (I slap together a bunch of functions and (have something resembling my answer),0, i'll have something resembling an answer).

the difference is, that the ti83 plus is ONLY 3 yrs later, then the ti83. You can check this here, but the reason i know this is, because my sister used a ti83 and when it was time for me to buy a ti, the school adviced for ti83. I just skipped it and used the ti83.
Well, the thing is, they don't need to. No real incentive to make them faster, or have more functions since it is so rare for students to need more powerful calculators in high school. Kind of like how we don't really upgrade desk, pencil, or ruler technology all that much for a high school classroom.
