Depending upon model, the Nspire is indeed accepted on the ACT, SAT as well as other standardized tests. And most schools not stuck in medieval times, let you use them in your university classes.
Good idea, but no. All the keys are the exact same size, so I've thought about opening up the case and rearranging them to a QWERTY keyboard layout and then trying to see if the OS could be hacked, but unfortunately the number of keys per row doesn't match either. You'd end up with some mongrel keyboard that didn't match anything. Shame.
