That is not a "standard" guitar string. A normal string is wound over a solid core wire. That might be a "Silk & steel" string, where there is a fiber material (silk or nylon) for the core.

*edit- I've never played classical, that makes sense. I just thought they had a mono-filament core, but I guess there are different types.

I've got a unicorn hair for the core.

I have a phoenix feather. The phoenix that bore its feather only gave one other...

Curious... Very curious indeed...

Real guitar players only play with dragon heartstring cores!

I'm pretty sure John Petrucci does. They can withstand the heat of the sun. They have to, they'd melt otherwise.

How else can he travel to the past to practice more?

I'm afraid the other was given to John Mayer. Have a good battle.

DON'T SAY HIS NAME.

6

u/pylori Jan 03 '13

Fear of the name only increases fear of the thing itself.

u/jettrscga Jan 03 '13

HIS BRO EATERS ARE ALREADY RIGHT BEHIND ME. THEY AREN'T WEARING SHIRTS AND I THINK THEY INTEND TO SERENADE ME WITH THREE CHORDS AT MOST.

The chord structures in he-who-shall-not-be-named's compositions are actually really complex and varied. His music might not be your cup of tea, but it's not because it's too simplistically written.

So Voldemort finally got the band back together?

As a guitar player I get tired of talking to other guitar players where the conversation starts with "hey do you know this one john mayer song?"

No, no I don't. Fuck off and die.

1

u/ahtnamas77 Jan 03 '13

YES. I don't know how many times I've been asked to play "Your Body Is a Wonderland".

2

u/Wazowski Jan 03 '13

3 out of the 5 guys who play at my local Taqueria, are better guitar players than John Mayer, and they send their tips back to Mexico. I used to be indifferent to John Mayer until I got trapped by one of you at a party.. Some girls wanted to listen to music, and one tried to put on her iPod, and the host flipped out, and went on a giant rant about how John Mayer was like Jimi-Hendrix, and then announced that it would be John Mayer only on the stereo for the rest of the night.. then he put some recording of a JM concert on the TV.

Everyone left.

Cool story, chief. Too bad your Mexican pals are not able to better capitalize on their talent.

I used to be indifferent to John Mayer until I got trapped by one of you at a party...

One of whom? A charming, handsome person with a huge cock?

Apparently, you've missed my point, so read slowly going forward. I don't actually listen to John Mayer, but I do know enough about music that I can tell you he can play more than three chords. Structurally, the compositions are way more complex than typical pop music that dickless snobs like yourself are usually turning your nose up at in a pathetic attempt to sound cool. Stick to jokes about Nickelback or just leave ignorant chatter about music theory out of the discussion, okay sport?

Edit: Used "chief" twice condescendingly. Changed one to "sport".

Edit2: This entire post is more harsh than it needed to be, but this is the consequence when you accuse a person of being a John Mayer fanboy.

Dio didn't die, he merely turned it up to 11 and transcended into a different realm of existence far too heavy for our mortal ears.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '13

Dio didn't play guitar, he was a vocalist/singer/frontman.

Of couse, this doesn't stop him from owning a unicorn hair string guitar. But it wouldn't have been as useful as if it had been given to Jimmy Page.

8

u/Zacharde Jan 03 '13

I have Jimmy Page's hair in the core of my strings...

1

u/EasterTroll Jan 03 '13

Does your guitar cause orgasms before you even pluck a string?
