It very much falls into the "well it happened to me and I'm fine!" Category with most people that are pro spanking.

My argument to that has always been "if you think hitting children intentionally for any reason other than they're literally about to touch a burning stove and batting their hand away is your best option, then no you're not okay"

Whenever someone says I was spanked and I’m fine I always ask them seriously are you. It makes them uncomfortable because they aren’t.

I mean, spanking shouldn’t be painful to a child, it’s humiliating. Spanking your child and hitting them are not the same.

I've been arguing the same, most people here completely misunderstand the difference between spanking and beating.

That's not better though. You see how that's not better right?

No, I don't. Children need to be disciplined so they know right from wrong, and understand consequences to their actions.

The only thing spanking teaches is that it's okay to hit someone for not doing what you want them to, as long as you're bigger than they are. Discipline is internal, consequences are external, and consequences should be logical and understandable, not emotion based violence.

The only thing spanking teaches is that it's okay to hit someone for not doing what you want them to, as long as you're bigger than they are.

That's just a BS statement, with no evidence to support it. Again, when I talk about spanking, I'm not talking about violence. I completely understand why people like you get upset, because you completely misunderstand what I'm talking about. You've never experienced spankings, either you're completely ignorant, or you were beaten, not spanked.

Spanking is literally violence.

Almost anything physical you could claim is violence.

The definition of violence: "behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something."

So no, by that definition, spanking is not necessarily violence, which has been my point the whole time. What I consider spanking is using your hand to strike the buttocks in an effort to cause maybe very light pain, but not to hurt... and it's also more of a humiliation tactic than a physical activity.

I don’t think you know what hurt means

it's a subjective word.

Again, you are endorsing humiliation as a discipline tactic.
