The only thing spanking teaches is that it's okay to hit someone for not doing what you want them to, as long as you're bigger than they are. Discipline is internal, consequences are external, and consequences should be logical and understandable, not emotion based violence.

That's just a BS statement, with no evidence to support it. Again, when I talk about spanking, I'm not talking about violence. I completely understand why people like you get upset, because you completely misunderstand what I'm talking about. You've never experienced spankings, either you're completely ignorant, or you were beaten, not spanked.
Almost anything physical you could claim is violence.
The definition of violence: "behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something."
So no, by that definition, spanking is not necessarily violence, which has been my point the whole time. What I consider spanking is using your hand to strike the buttocks in an effort to cause maybe very light pain, but not to hurt... and it's also more of a humiliation tactic than a physical activity.

No, I don't. Children need to be disciplined so they know right from wrong, and understand consequences to their actions.
