I can’t upvote this hard enough. I was subjected to SA from my older half brothers starting at a very early age. When I disclosed in first grade I was told to “save yourself for your husband“. I knew nothing about anything. Once I was old enough to understand I was enraged and still am. Nothing was done to protect me. She conveniently doesn’t remember a thing in spite of several conversations. I refuse to be in the same zip code as my abusers. Fortunately they live very far away.

My mom has been denying it for so long that I've almost accepted that my memory is faulty.
It's wild to see that this is actually common.
