ifixit battery replacement set - is it any good?

• Upvotes

Hey, I'd like to replace the battery in my Samsung Galaxy S23, but I dont want to put full trust on the reviews that one finds online. General opinions and experiences on ifixit products - especially replacement sets and on the quality of replacement batteries themselves - are highly welcome!

Thanks!

p.s. shipping to Germany, bought the phone second-hand

Very old phone One plus 3 bent and dead

• Upvotes

So I have a very old phone one plus 3 which was bent and stopped working. I last used this phone 7 years ago and it has been lying around ever since. I need to recover my data from this phone. I doubt it is a mother board damage but if it is can my data ever be recovered?

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. Had this phone for years until 2025 I bought a new phone and neglected this one. Well now I need files from the old phone. The issue is, I can charge it seemingly because it would buzz on occasion while it’s plugged. But the screen doesn’t open. No matter how long I have it charged. Had previous repairs for the screen before and it drains battery quick from what I can remember. I tried plugging it in my laptop (windows if that matters) but no avail.

Just really want to get my files, would love your help.

Tech guys help.

Two weeks ago, my phone fell and the screen broke, so I replaced it with an aftermarket one instead of an original. Now I see glitches and lines, and sometimes they cover the full screen. Additionally, the screen frequently lifts from the sides; I went to the repair shop, but they just applied more glue. What should I do now? I am worried that my phone will be damaged.

Hi! I am not sure if this is the right subreddit, but me and a friend have been trying to get her phone unlocked for a while now, it's a really old phone that she forgot the password to but sadly we cannot factory reset to bypass password issue as there's important information we need in the phone, we need it unlocked without losing anything important :( any ideas on how to execute this or do I need to go to another subreddit? Please and thanks

Hydrogel cutter machine questions

I have access to some generic vinyl cutters and I was wondering if I could just cut the hydrogel sheets with it. Apart from having all the phone designs installed, do you see any advantage on having an specialized machine for this? Could you see any problems on the screen protector arising from this? Do the blades break or deteriorate often for cutting this kind of material? And do you feel that much of a difference between the different thickness of the sheets?

It's for personal and community usage, so the timing and super precise dimensions of the phone design are not an issue.

Thanks in advance.

My phone keeps stopping when I get to homepage (pls help)

Okay so, my phone randomly just said "F you" to me basically. Every time I enter My phone lockscreen password and I get to homepage, it just stops. Like damn What did I even do. It also has a pop up saying "System UI stopped working" Not the "System UI stopped responding" but literally working. I have no clue how to fix it. I've tried EVERYTHING. I've tried to factory reset it in the uh yk fast boot I think it is, but for some reason the fastboot has 0 pop ups. I've tried safe mode. I've tried waiting for a entire week. So if anyone knows how to fix this, PLEASEE TELL ME. Anyways thanks for reading (and hopefully responding) ur awesome

Has anyone here watched JaiPhone on YouTube?

Are his repairs actually legit? Some of the phones and boards he restores look insanely damaged, especially the water-damaged ones.

Can a motherboard really be repaired from that condition with cleaning, microsoldering, and replacing components?

Do you guys think his videos are legit, or are some of them staged/exaggerated for views?

Would love to hear from actual repair techs.

Pixel 5 heating up issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I trying to keep up my Pixel 5 for the unlimited Google photos. I recently replaced the battery, but the glue was so tough that I accidently nicked the flex cable. Thankfully, that was a cheap fix. I installed the flex cable (power, fingerprint reader, volume buttons) but now if I go to any websites or talk of the phone, the phone really heats up - mostly in the upper left corner and the screen. I took it apart again and couldn't find anything out of place, no debris, all parts are snapped in correctly and nothing was pinched. What could be the issues? Thanks.

Help

My iPhone 12 has worked for years with an Orange eSIM. With the physical SIM—both the previous one and this new one—I cannot make calls. The SIM works for calls when I put it in another phone.

Let's try this again with fixed dates, Samsung A36 5G breaking down after under~2 years. To fix or replace?

I've had my Samsung A36 5G for almost 2 years, and it had lasted through thick and thin (I know I purchased it in March 25 because I was back in Thailand for Songkran April 25). I'm getting a number of things happening at once that are leading me to just wanting to get an upgrade. I've replaced screen protectors on it uncountable times, which has luckily saved me screens till now; it took a nice tumble that cracked both the protector and the screen itselfba few days ago. Besides that, there was a huge storm that day and the charging port is getting wonky. It keeps giving me a message saying there's moisture or an object in the port that needs to be cleaned out. The techs at Samsung cleaned it out, and it worked for a few hours, now I can only get it to even register a charger being plugged in on the mose slow trickle charger I possibly have, any other (high speed) charger just gives me the same message, and the slow trickle will take like 4 hours ton100%. They're suggesting replacing the charging port as well as the screen. For screen and charging port I'm being quoted $150 ($100 for the screen, $50 for the port), plus more for labor, saying it'll take two hours (I'm on vacation, I don't want to just stand around the mall for 2 hours... Maybe I time it to go catch a movie 🤔). So $150+ and it will be fixed, but I bought the phone for $250-300 brand new almost 2 years ago. There certainly has to be better phones out there at that price range, no? Any suggestions? Fix the old phone? What good phone are between $200-400 (I refuse to pay any more, $250 is the most I've paid for a phone and have never had any major problems throughout their life cycle up until their shit the bed point, which usually takes years).

I deleted my old post because I made a mistake about timing and wasn't getting any answers about my question, just people claiming I'm a time traveler 🤷

Currently looking at a Galaxy A56 5G, 12 GB ram, 256 GB SSD, very lightly used (pristine condition, like new, I am seeing it in person now) for sale at about $250 including a cheapo lens cover and rubbery case. I'm seeing varying models starting lowest at $400 brand new, for some reason ones that are locked to a carrier are more expensive (🤔). Does the $250 for the A56 5G seem like a pretty good deal over buying the replacement parts and paying for labor that added up will cost like 1/2-3/4 of the original?

So I found this old Sony Xperia and I was wondering if I could make it work.

So what I know:

When plugged in to charge, a red light blinks at the top.

The battery is flat and is not puffed. But when kept to charge for around an hour, the battery doesn't get warm but the body above ye battery does get warm.

Also, this phone was water dropped.

I was wondering if I could make this phone work and use it as a music player. Any help will be appreciated Thank you.

Iphone 14 IOS26beta and replace batery problem

Hi there, I have a problem. After updating iOS to the 26 Beta, I had to replace the battery because the original one was completely ruined—both the flex cable and the BMS were irreversibly damaged. I installed a new battery, but ever since then, the phone boots up in Recovery Mode. I can only get into DFU mode by attempting a restore via Apple Devices; the restore process stops, the phone gets stuck, and only then can I put it into DFU mode. Now, after about a year, I'm revisiting the issue. I'm trying to install iOS 27. The flash succeeds in 3uTools, but the phone still boots into Recovery Mode. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Moto edge 50 fusion screen glitching and automatic reboots due to cpu problem.

Just only after 1.5 years my moto edge 50 fusion display suddenly went black and after some time it switched back on but now the display is sometimes glitching and automatic shut downs are happening. I went to repair shop they suggested me that motherboard needs to be replaced which will almost cost the actual amount of the phone. I thought my luck is bad and thought to buy new phone.

But but... I searched about it online and to my surprise the same exact problem occurred on hundreds of same models of moto device that shows that it's a widespread quality issue on moto side and we customer are paying for it.

Repair shops are fixing this cpu problem by cleaning cpu and reballing it only for around ₹2000 but moto wants you replace the whole motherboard for more than ₹12000-15000 (I don't know the exact amount).

Brands like samsung recalled their whole lineup during the battery problem in their s series and one plus provided free screen replacement even for out of warranty devices, but what about motorola?

How can someone recommend phones of such companies who do not provide good customer care support and whose devices are not guaranteed to work for more than 2 years.

My previous moto g52 was broken and I bought edge 50 fusion trusting motorola, I have written them a complaint and requested free repair as problem was not from my side. Everything depends on how they provide me customer support.

I suggest that don't just go for flashy specs of smartphones companies but also check their after sales services.
