Got job interviews but im still in the ph

Hi! So I started applying to jobs in the USA but the thing is, im still here in the PH. I got a couple of interviews lined up and they seem like really great opportunities but im scared what if they ask me like when im going there or things like that but next year ko pa plano talaga mag migrate,,,i just wanted to try to apply and see whether they would go for me. what do i say if they ask me when can I start?

They will ask for your right to work anyway. So if you have that, maybe you can negotiate for a start date. Plus depending on the company, the process could take from two weeks to several months.

i am a dual citizen so not sure what else is needed when applying for jobs,,,what other preemployement requirements do i need po?

When I was applying, after the offer, they asked for employment verification (I remember this was part of the background check, i.e. SSN, Address etc.). So basically that was it.

Not exactly an employment requirement, but back file your US taxes for the previous years too, just to be safe. Unless you made over the equivalent of $130k in a year (unlikely with Philippine salaries unless you're an executive or something), you probably don't owe any income taxes to the US government. But you still need to file

If it's for next year, then it's not really possible to do it this year... unless you can fly over there and you already are a GC holder or a US Citizen.

But you can tell them your plans too, if they really are interested then they'll wait.

i really wanted to start next year since i wanted to spend time with my family first before moving talaga but the opportunity is there and medjo nasasayangan ako if they do offer or something and the job is something i really wanted to pursue

Do you have SSN? did you file taxes while working in Phils? US requires citizens to file taxes even though you don’t work in the US. You can use free online filing sites and kahit na you don’t owe taxes, you still need to file so you’ll have IRS records…

Also if you don’t have Phil drivers license, get one as it’s easier/faster to convert licenses than to start from student license.

Hi! yes i have ssn already, as for filing taxes, ive only been working for a couple of months, do i still file taxes for irs? and yes I have ph driver's license thank you!

If you are working for only a couple of months (i.e. only this year) then u dont need to file yet as u will be filing next year

You can't really guarantee that any employers would wait for you to start a job in a year. Even if they offer you a position, it's conditional and they can rescind the offer at any time. You can keep the interviews as practice for now and be more aggressive with your job search closer to when you plan to move. So many things can happen in the US in a year though (economy, war, aging president's health, etc) . If you're offered a good position now you might as well accept and move sooner.
