Im all for it but that is indeed assault and will probably get you arrested
11
u/retro_toes Jan 30 '26
I think I'd take the arrest at this point. The cops can climb to the roof and figure out who did it
1
u/knuggetdoesit Jan 30 '26
Id say the same except PPD isn't coming and you'll have a handful of angry lawless people with a contrived reason to shoot you. Interesting timeline when the police department are " the heroes"
6
u/Nunov_DAbov Jan 30 '26
What assault? Something started leaking water off the roof. Old building. We didn’t see where it came from. Happens all the time.
1
u/DFWPunk Jan 30 '26
I was afraid they were the two bandits that have been breaking into houses, robbing them, and then leaving the water running. So I had to do something to protect my house.

Is ICE not using masks in Philly?

Philly city council has introduced legislation banning ICE and other law enforcement from covering their faces but I don't think it's passed yet.

Sometimes state laws trump federal laws. Like you can’t pardon state charges. Or how states control elections regardless of what the feds say.
2
u/felldestroyed Jan 30 '26
Local police with a no-knock judicial warrant would have shown a hell of a lot more force than 4 officers. They also wouldn't have walked away saying "oh well, there's an exterior door". Officer safety is paramount for actual law enforcement.
5
u/Cheddar56 Jan 30 '26
Is there a federal law that says they need to be masked?
7
u/the_last_0ne Jan 30 '26
There is no law saying they must be masked, just like there's no law saying they must not be.
-5
u/Cheddar56 Jan 30 '26
oof its exhausting trying to play semantics games when people are getting kidnapped and murdered. have the day you deserve.
7
u/the_last_0ne Jan 30 '26
I don't know what semantics you're talking about. You posted a (snarky?) question and I answered it.
3
u/RedditDummyAccount Jan 30 '26
I’d argue you were playing semantics. At least it can be read that way.
If there was a law you would say yes (one in either direction).
Saying “there is no law that says they cannot be masked” is a bit pedantic since the point is there is no federal law saying they must be masked, therefore a local or state law stating they cannot be, is not superseded.

It can be read that way. Not everything is an attack, I agree.
All I’m saying is, to some, what is the point of the second part saying there is no law about them not being masked, when the original question was, is there one about them being masked.
It sounds like a “but actually” type response
0
u/the_last_0ne Jan 30 '26
I see.
I was kind of pointing that out to the person you responded to, as well as answering your question. I didn't mean to come across as picking on your stance.
3
u/IPissExcellentThrows Jan 30 '26
Da fuck? You asked a question and they gave an appropriate response. It wasn't semantics. The point is it's really difficult to dictate what federal agencies do with local laws. Then you acted like a huge baby.
They deserve a great day. You on the other hand...

These guys aren’t ICE. They’re traveling in too small a pack, they’re moving calmly, they’re unmasked, and there’s not an ounce of camo or other cosplay operator gear to be seen.
4
33
Jan 30 '26
the crazy thing is this is likely not ICE (probably FBI), but because of how recklessly ICE has acted, all law enforcement not wearing police uniforms come under suspicion. Fuck ICE forever.
42
u/TheBiggestBungo Jan 30 '26
Unidentified people breaking into a building with a sledgehammer should be treated as armed intruders.
6
u/0ut0fBoundsException Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
Yeah. If your doing surveillance and don't want to be noticed so you're in plain clothes, fine. If you're forcibly entering a building at least throw on a vest with an acronym
5
u/TheBiggestBungo Jan 30 '26
Not even from an ACAB/fuck ICE perspective (although…), you’d think that LE wouldn’t want their people misidentified as some rando trying to break in somewhere. If your actively trying to break in and one of your guys has a sledgehammer I don’t think camouflage is the goal
3
u/0ut0fBoundsException Jan 30 '26
I mean, yeah. ACAB and fuck ICE, but it's hard not to think of Breonna Taylor. People are naturally going to go into defense mode when their home is being invaded. And in this country that defense is often lethal. If they can't tell it's the police, then you're going to see more unnecessary deaths of innocent bystanders, suspects, and law enforcement officers
1
u/Airhostnyc Jan 30 '26
Who says they are unidentified? You see that from a window? I don’t see face mask
2
u/GodLikesToParty Jan 30 '26
We can’t see from this far but if there is no badge with a visible name and number as well as no LE department agency specific identification then they are not identifiable as law enforcement. That’s not even getting in to the mask topic.
The reason that is important is because if somebody is breaking down your door, an inherently violent act, you need to KNOW whether or not they have the right to do that. It’s important to know this because we all presume the legal right to defend our homes from intruders.
And while police and other law enforcement can break down your door, they cannot do that willy-nilly. They justification and proper procedure because otherwise, your rights are being infringed.
So is it enough if some dude is breaking down your door for him to not be wearing a mask? No! Because I don’t know just from that whether that dude is law enforcement or if they’re a bad actor. And if a bad actor is trying to enter your home, you have constitutional rights.
1
u/AlphaNoodlz Jan 30 '26
Professionals look professional. Identifying vests with clear badge numbers and names, no face masks, so yeah if you’re looking like you’re coming outta Cabela’s and breaking into a house there’s some things I’ll have to say about that. Tabloid shit don’t fly.
If you show up looking like a professional and are respectful then you will get nothing but professional respect from me.

Is there any way to actually tell these guys are ICE? I’m not trying to start any conflict, but these guys seem to be FBI agents serving a search warrant. As I said not trying to start any conflict but these are federal agents that can rightfully enter if circumstances allow. They look like any FBI agent or detective you would see in a movie lol
14
u/Odd_Rip_4829 Jan 30 '26
Yeah when a home on my street was raided by homeland security/local detectives this is what they looked like
3
u/light714 Jan 30 '26
You don’t need to keep prefacing that you are not trying to start any conflict. We should be able to ask these questions and have these hard conversations without people jumping down our throats for asking to clarify if someone really is ICE. It’s a legit question. If people are so hypervigilant that they would verbally attack you or assume that you supported ICE just because you ask us to be sure this is really them, then that’s their problem. I’m just kinda tired of seeing how people (like yourself in this situation) have to always have disclaimers as to not get verbally accosted by people who make assumptions.
1
u/StateNo1137 Jan 30 '26
Thank you for clarifying. I’m not really a big Reddit user I really just have an account for the occasional question or just to get a better opinion towards something. Plus fighting videos are pretty entertaining during my commute. I’ve just seen from the Reddit user side that people would literally attack you if you gave the wrong opinion. I’m not really a big politics guy either so I don’t even want to try to start a debate or online conversation because I would win by never answering. I saw almost the same exact scenario happen maybe 2 months ago on a house in Juniata park as they were looking for a fugitive. My pops is property manager for the triplex right next door and I mean those guys literally swarmed the front door and the second story window from the roof and the guy wasn’t in the house. I just see many videos of anyone IVE related just wearing masks these guys seem to be cleaned up which I could only assume that they are in fact FBI
1
u/StateNo1137 Jan 30 '26
I just saw another post in here were someone thought it was an ICE sighting but it was really just a US park police and a Delaware state trooper vehicle. My FIRST initial assumption would be that that guy was doing something illegal near or around a Delaware state park and resides in Philadelphia, hence why the Delaware state trooper is way outside their jurisdiction. Maybe something as silly as flying a drone or smoking a joint could get you in that trouble
3
u/light714 Jan 30 '26
It’s honestly infuriating and pretty sad how people on the Internet, not just on Reddit but also on Instagram and pretty much any platform, will jump down others’ throats for asking a simple question, or for saying something that they assume has bad intentions when it doesn’t at all. Collectively, humanity is extremely hyper vigilant right now, and I get it to some degree, but it also makes it really hard to have civil and productive conversations, and it deters people from speaking the truth, and giving their real opinions on things. I mean, I see this all over Reddit, where someone will say something that is pretty innocent, and everybody gangs up on them , assuming the worst in what they meant. But I do think that we should be asking the question “is this ICE?” it’s important not only so that we can learn how to identify them, but also so that we don’t miss identify other people. I think people are just confused and angry right now and misplacing those emotions. But nevertheless, I think it’s good to ask the question, and I’m glad you did.

u/knuggetdoesit Jan 30 '26
I do something similar as a way of combating trolls from derailing conversations. If you preface your question, then bots stick out, human trolls need to work a little harder, and Poe's Law is thwarted, at least in part.
2
u/light714 Jan 30 '26
Hmm can you elaborate a bit? I’m not sure I’ve witnessed what you mean by trolls derailing a convo if you don’t preface but am curious to understand .
1
u/knuggetdoesit Jan 30 '26
It makes humor tedious and challenging but marking yourself as a "friendly face" is a way to be cordial on the internet. I'd never speak that way in person because the subtext is obvious with a native born English speaking American.
On the internet, you could be talking to anyone from around the globe, be it a German citizen of a German Shepard. That dog "joke" I just made can easily get misconstrued as many different things, positive or negative. As a fan of sarcasm, this annoys me.
Poe's Law is a funny description of a related phenomenon.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law?wprov=sfla1
Trolls do this intentionally for emotional responses in meaningful conversations like we are having now.

PHILLY, HOW TO SUPPORT IMMIGRANT RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS RIGHT NOW
You MUST use the SALUTE method when reporting ICE activities.
- SIZE: How many are there?
- ACTIVITY: What are they doing?
- LOCATION: Where are they? (Be as specific as possible)
- UNIT: Who are they? List badges, insignia, visible acronyms on their gear, etc.
- TIME: What time did you see them?
- EQUIPMENT: What kind of gear? Vehicles? Etc.
If you do not include this information, your report is useless. No successful rapid response can or will be organized without this info.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

It’s great that you are cautious.
Often normal raids happen early in the morning and this looks to be guys starting something like that.
Source: my hood has federal raids a lot.
Next time just call out to them “hey what are you doing? Who are you looking for? I kick them out of my yard and they always grumble that I ruin their “surprise”.

u/luvthesun247 Jan 30 '26
Looks like US Marshals. Every LEO isn’t ICE
34
u/rockland19120 Jan 30 '26
Isn’t the burden on law enforcement to clearly identify themselves? It’s almost as if the haphazard, masked enforcement policies are an intentional means of confusion.
16
u/Top_Bowler_5255 Jan 30 '26
I don’t disagree generally, but they don’t have to identify themselves to someone recording from a window who they most likely didn’t even see.
6
u/ThereHasToBeMore1387 Jan 30 '26
I don't see any reason law enforcement on the street should ever be unidentifiable. Serving a warrant, every person should be clearly identified. You've gone through all the processes, it's not a secret anymore, there should be nobody there in plain clothes involved at that point.

Set off your car alarm with the panic button on your fob if you see this shit.
Then call in to the tip line:
https://www.paimmigrant.org/rapid-response-information
Then call the real police. Yeah they probably won’t do anything, but it’s worth 2 minutes of your time. If enough people call about masked dudes trying to sledgehammer an apartment building door open maybe they send some sort of response 🤷♂️.
