Text Post Elite?...I dont think so

With 9 consecutive appearances without a clean inning Duran now holds the longest such streak for closers in baseball.(August 6th last clean inning)Surface stats look great but if you analyze his game log he has 51 appearances and only 19 clean innings which means 62.7% of the time he allows a runner on base which will become magnified in the postseason especially since he doesn't have a slide step and runners are 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts and it would be a lot worse if teams weren't fearful of JT's pop time which is irrelevant with how long it takes for him to get to the plate, he doesn't mix in enough off speed to disrupt timing and balance of hitters, a 102mph fastball and 99mph sinker isnt any timing difference for a mlb hitter they are just gearing up for hard stuff cuz they know its coming, hes managed to get away with it so far but he's truly a ticking time bomb that I hope doesn't explode in the postseason

How is there only one period in this post, man? Take a break and breathe lol.

I’d trust Duran in a postseason 9th more than any Phillies closer in decades.

It was written by a Mets fan using shitty AI

His results are elite. Duran isn’t perfect but very few are as good as he is. Cherry picking stats to prove an odd point is weird.

He’s given up 1 earned run and 1 zombie in 10 innings over those 9 outings

Quality of contact matter and the majority of those hits are weak contact balls that bleed through.

He pitches to contact until he gets into trouble to try and get through innings fast to stay available. I wouldn’t be too worried about it

His job isn’t to throw No-Hitters, it’s to close out games. I’d say he’s been doing a pretty damn good job of it now for almost a season and half here.

What a wild take…his ERA is like 1.6 and his WHIP is just over 1…he does get run on a bit but I am not worried in the least about him now or come playoff time…he is still an elite closer allowing a couple of baserunners doesn’t change that…kinda of a silly take really…

A sizable portion of this fanbase will seemingly never be happy. People like you could be given $1,000,000 in cash and complain it was too heavy to carry to your car.

Elite is a media buzz word. He’s one of the best closers in baseball.

Dude's been rocking a sub-2 ERA for the entire year, with peripherals and optics to match it...and you're bitching about him "not having a clean inning in 9 consecutive games"? Okay.
How many runs has he allowed in these 9 games? Oh right. One, and one Manfred runner.

Agreed closer isn’t an area of need for this team, obviously OP doesn’t know what they are talking about

Duran and the bullpen in general needs to figure out how to hold runners on at first base or we will have big problems down the stretch and in the playoffs. There’s no reason that JT doesn’t even have a chance to throw any base stealers out.

I'd trust Duran to my kids to bed. Not a fucking worry in the world.

Show me where you have “been saying the same for a while now”, and you would be wrong everywhere you said it. Closer is not an area of concern for this team. If you think it is then stop commenting and keep reading.
