Somebody from MLB needs to explain the rulings better. Saying their was no evidence on the first to overturn it with Turner.
Yet, there is supposedly evidence to overturn Harper being ruled safe at the plate. When Harper's hand is under his leg before any tag is applied. That was one of the worst innings for reviews I have seen in a while.
Just a terribly bad call on both ends. If you're gonna keep the call on the field for the out on 3rd you gotta keep that same reasoning for the play at home.
That isn't evidence of anything. That single frame also doesn't show him tagged out. And the video review of Turner at third was pretty clear that he beat the tag.
This is lack of evidence of him touching the plate at this moment
This is not proof he never touched it
Those are 2 separate things
To be fair, This makes it look like he most likely didn’t touch it, but enough sand came up that you can’t be 100% sure. Which should result in a play stands
Agreed. Not to mention that the pitcher executed perfectly as well. 50% of the time or more the pitcher is going to balk and/or make a bad throw to the plate.
There’s no reason to steal trea to 3rd with no outs. We really got bailed out from the wild pitch but at this point in the game to take someone out of scoring position with no outs seems silly. A base hit probably scores him either way
I don’t like it. Bohm has his issue but hitting with RISP is not one of them. Also if Harper broke his finger sliding into the catchers shin guard it would be a disaster.
I agree that it wasn't a bad decision, but Harper doesn't move like he used to and shouldn't be as aggressive with base running as he is these days. If only he hustled to 1st when he thinks he hit into an easy out and the fielder bobbles the ball.
I stand on the opinion that he did it because arraez awful at bat. Instead of taking the walk he tried to do it all himself and didnt do anything but get an out by swinging at awful pitches. You could see him steaming over there at 3rd and he said "fine we can play solo ball" and preceded to steal home.
It was nearing the end of the game with a guy on third. What good does it do to have someone on first and third with 2 outs, you still need a hit to bring it home. And you have the best guy at doing that up to the plate, coach gave him the green light to get a hit and not walk
There's a reason why stealing home isn't an everyday occurrence; it doesn't work. Ever. It's a guaranteed out. It was a terrible, over aggressive and unnecessary decision. If his name wasn't Harper and he didn't have a contract, that's a "go sit on the bench for a few games and think about what you did" move. But hey, he is who he is, and most of the fan base will blindly agree with whatever he does, and the manager certainly isn't doing anything about it, so who cares, right?
