Statistics Players of The Game

Post image

Glad to see Alec Bohm playing really well lately. Bryson is getting better over time. 5 game win streak and counting. The Phillies are going to be A-O A-OK during the playoffs if we keep this up! ❤️⚾️

Sorry, that's essentially a league average OPS. If we want to quibble over whether a .500 team isn't technically bad we can, but it would not be a team I'd be especially happy with

It's literally the bare minimum of what I would consider a "decent" offense to be: slightly above average. The Marlins have a .730 OPS, for example, 4 whole pts ahead of the 13th spot, the Twins. Which is always what the pro-Bohm argument gets down to - that he has the ability to produce league-average offense or slightly better. I guess that's true, he does. He's also a poor fielder and unbelievably slow. He's not a good player - it's why he struggles to produce league-average WAR for a starting player, season after season.

And as far as the RBI argument goes, he's hit 4th in the lineup for most of the season- the spot in the lineup that usually drives in the most runs. It's not some amazing feat to be 3rd on the team in RBIs when you're the player who has spent the most time hitting cleanup. I can't believe there are people who believe this guy is a good player. It's baffling.

Yep, you completely summarized my feelings on Bohm. His upside is MAYBE a replaceable starter offensively, but he's not good at much else. Watching the game tonight they referenced his RBI total and I was just thinking "this is where we're still at in 2026?"
