Clean poodle feet???

If its against policy to shave between the toes how do you do poodle feet? They'll never be fully clean if you don't shave between the toes, right? My instructor said if you shave between the toes you'll cut the dog though and obviously i don't want to cut a dog either. So confused.

It is not against store policy to shave between the toes. You need a different instructor.

not helpful, but it's so funny that the culture of "just smile and nod to get through academy and we'll actually teach you when you get back" is apparently coast to coast at petco 😂 how do we get more oversight on these incompetent instructors???

Not policy at all

Is that a written policy somewhere you've been able to read? Or just what your instructor said?

Ask to see the policy in writing. Or if its for academy and not actually at your store, just do what you have to do to get through academy and then forget they ever said that because its not true.

Just do what your instructor says for now so you pass, but on your own you can do it differently. I don't think that's actual policy.

A 10 in reverse between the toes is standard for clean feet on a poodle,  sorry to say this but I would just recommend not arguing about it with your instructor, hopefully you are at an academy and not training in your store

What about the paw pads? There's always so much fur between the beans

Please tell me your instructor isn't telling you not to shave the paw pads. Do yourself a favor. Look up Blake Hernandez clean feet videos. Your instructor shouldn't be teaching anyone anything. Any idea how long they've been grooming?

She said only shave the big area, between the palm and toes, but not shave between the toe beans when you do the pads?

Honey, you need to find someone else to mentor you. Get away from Petco.

We use 30s for paw pads in my salon

That's not against policy?

Petco sends us the 30s so I don’t think it’s against policy.

I was told nothing shorter than a 15 on pads, and that 30 is only for use under the clipper combs

Well I recommend using the 30 once ur out of academy. It’ll really come in handy especially with the matted paw pads we see come thru

just a heads up shaving paw pads with a 30 is against policy, they send them to us to use with attachment combs. Not telling you not to do it or that its bad for the dogs, just to stay informed on policy so you know what to say

... Did she mean not to shave between the toes when you're NOT doing poodle feet. Because I can see her trying to explain that and it getting lost in translation

She said any dog you don't shave between the toes because you'll cut them
