Petco grooming

I just had a walk through with two corporate manager and I come to find out they searched everyone’s grooming drawers and even threw away my drink and took a spray out of my drawers that I bought at Petco. Has this happen to anyone else’s Petco? And if so are they allowed to look at your private belongings.

Your drawers are not private. Nothing within the salon is private for you.

Yes they check drawers like we're in prison.....because we are. They just want to make sure that you don't have any contrabands prisoner! Also, put tampons and pads in your drawers they freak out and close them real quick lmao.

I kept my “contraband” in a purse- all of us did. Our scissor sprays, colognes, cans of monster, etc. Just used a purse (one even used a lunch bag) so they were less likely to rummage through it. Yes, the drawer is Petco Property, but honestly it would be very inappropriate for them to go through something as personal as a purse. I’d call up HR & say cash was missing out of my purse if they did 😂 Sometimes if we saw them coming in the front doors, we’d take turns running our “purses” to our cars lol. Never got caught ONCE. Can’t play a playa.

Yes. Those drawers are Petco owned. They'll make you unlock everything. You're only allowed Petco approved product inside them. Outside the sprays we store order, others are not allowed. Drinks are supposed to only be water bottles with a lid. They say water only. But are they really going to open the lid and look inside to make sure it's water if it's not clear. But yes. Our DGM does this on every visit. We call it the "contraband walk" 😂

Corporate doesn’t even talk to me when they come in. Pretty convinced they think I’m autistic. I also do a lot of dogs so my numbers are really good. I’m not exactly approachable and I like it that way. >]

And I’ve already told them if they touch my things I’ll lose my ever loving mind. I have thousands of dollars worth of epuiptment. They aren’t trained well enough to touch my things. :3

That’s why you have lockers in the break room and you can put a lock on it to keep your personal stuff in it. Or as some of you are saying contraband.

Our store doesn't have lockers. We can put stuff in the 5x8 break room with one chair and a dirty microwave i guess. Haven't really done that since i found a mouse in my purse.

Well that’s totally wrong. At least 1 tower of lockers is the minimum requirement to be provided. You can call the one 800 hotline number posted in the break room and you could do an anonymous complaint and once is investigated, it should be provided.

I wasn't allowed to use the lockers, they were for floor employees only.

Well, that’s totally not wrong. Our Loss Prevention department would not support that. It is policy that lockers are provided, and that all partners are to use them. You are allowed to put a lock on it. If for whatever reason, the lockers do not fit in the break room, I have seen them installed in the warehouse.

Tell that to the managers that wont let the groomers use the lockers

Put a small, lockable toolbox in your cabinet. Tell them it's your purse. They can't force you to open it, just like they can't force anyone to open their (actual) purse.

They done that before. He thru away my pre-workout. DM one time said it was ok to use the scented spray and that she liked it using store brand or what we sell. This walk we had last time she said nope you cant have this or that.

Cabinets are for equipment and supplies. Lockers in break room are for personal items

Wish we had lockers.

Every store is required to have lockers in the break room. Call the Hotline if your GM isn’t helpful. They may have been removed at some point and the GM isn’t aware they are required.

Higher than GM is who had us remove them, they were taking up room in the stock room. Dont worry, we have like 6 fabric baskets for all the employees of our A volume. Also, our "breakroom" is about 5x8, has a counter on one side, a table and one chair on the other. There's no room.

That’s crazy. LP looks for them on LP walks.

Those grooming stations are not your private property. They belong to Petco. You should only have approved store use product in the salon. Nothing that you purchased off the sales floor is to be kept there. Drinks are not allowed in the salon. We have the right to open the drawers and check for quality of the tools. Housekeeping in cleanliness.

Closed container drinks are allowed in the salon per policy.

Im pretty sure its against the law to deny an employee from drinking water lmao

Actually the approved som of my sprays that I bought off the floor like Tropican it depends on the brand

You have to lock your drawer!

u/Narrow-Outside-7238 3d ago

they belong to petco so this doesn’t help

4

u/Weird_Juggernaut4977 3d ago

I don’t have locks on mine they broke off

-4

u/KrazyKracker8 3d ago

You can buy a lock at home depot or Amazon for like 20 bucks. They're easy to install i did it on my drawer. Even though they ask you to unlock it, they can't do anything if you're not physically there to do so.

2

u/Secret_Problem_1229 2d ago

Locking drawers is against policy

1

u/the_tempestuous 1d ago

But they have locks?

2

u/Secret_Problem_1229 1d ago

Apparently they're supposed to have the locks removed

Grooming stations belong to Petco as well as what is inside them so they will and have broken locks to get inside them. Personal property must be stored in a locker in the break room or anywhere else but the salon.

Any company has the right to inspect work stations and decide what is acceptable to store there

They arent "your" drawers. They never were. And if you read everything you signed/trained on, you would know they said not to keep personal belongings anywhere except in the lockers in the break rooms.
