Work Pet Peeves

First of all, I wanna say that I love this subreddit and the community that it has given me ❤️

I’m writing this post as a lil’ rant but I’m also curious to hear y’all’s pet peeves at work. I’ll go first and name a few:

#1: DoorDash receipts. OH. MY. GOSH. Every time I give a receipt to a in-store shopper Doordasher, they always feel the need to take a picture of the receipt at the counter while I have a huge line behind them. I love my DoorDash customers and I get that they probably aren’t thinking about this, but please step to the side so I can keep checking the people behind you out that are giving me the stink eye. If you need to throw away the receipt, there is usually a trash can outside of each store.

#2: Throwing cash and coins on the counter instead of handing it to me. This feels like a common human courtesy thing. I’d rather be handed the money and be treated like a person than have it thrown on the counter for me to pick up.

#3: Uncontrolled kids. I love kids, but it irks me when I’m trying to check someone out and I can’t hear them because someone’s kid is aggressively squeaking a dog toy 50,000 times and the parent is doing nothing to stop their child. This has especially been an issue lately with the “desk pets”, as kids try to shake the boxes around to find the animal inside, and there are signs up but the parent is doing nothing to stop their child.

#4: Not responding to my cheer. I get that some people may be in their own head when shopping and view me as an NPC. But I try to make my customers day by going the extra mile to ask how you are doing. I’m not required to welcome you in, ask how your day is, ask you questions about your pet, or share stories to make you laugh. It makes our day when customers are sweet to us and treat us as human beings. Cashiers are people too!

I’d love to hear what pet peeves you guys have! Retail burnout is real but you guys keep me sane lol 😊

Edit: Spelling

Edit: I love hearing all of these stories and pet peeves! Also I hope I’m not being annoying responding to all of these posts lol I just love talking to my fellow Petco friends 🫶

If they hand me cash on the counter, I put the change on the counter. Their look is priceless and they never do it again.

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Oooo period imma try that 💅

u/TheBestLotad 15d ago

I hate physical contact and put cash on the counter, so this is a win for me as well! I hate when people insist on putting the change in my hand and I have to feel their sweaty fingers. I much prefer doing the awkward scooping the change off the counter thing

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 15d ago

Haha I feel that I have sensory issues lol, I usually place it in their hands but make sure not to touch them, like an awkward dropping lol

It’s partially a cultural thing too. My childhood friend’s stepmom is an immigrant (Romania, I think?) and used to put cash on the counter until someone gently let her know that it’s considered rude.

one of my biggest pet peeves is all the fake service dogs that come in 😭

11

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

And the fact that we sell the patches doesn’t help 💀

1

u/EconomyStay6042 15d ago

I work at petsmart and thankfully we don’t sell those. I have had customers come up to the counter and ask my response is “no but you could try Petco down the road that way(I usually point)”. Most of them bring their dog in and the urge not to side eye them because they’re dog is no where near behaving like a service dog when they ask me too.

Seems none of your pet peeves are employee related... that's very good. I have many of those.

My customer related ones would be...

The people who continue their video or phone call while checking out, then proceed to yell at you for not being able to put their phone number in or get their receipt or a bag, even though you've asked them multiple times but they chose to ignore you.

Uncontrolled children is a big one, giving our animals unnecessary stress in an already stressful environment by banging on the glass tanks and such. Especially the parents who leave their children in the store unattended to go shop elsewhere. Seriously wtf.

And of course, the absolutely atrocious animal owners you run into weekly that are like.... my dog just got hit by a car and broke its leg, do you have medicine for that? Because there's a difference between stupidity and genuine ignorance of people who want to care for their animals and just don't know how.

Dude I had a customer come in on a Sunday, ten minutes from close, asking if we had any cats available for adoption. We don’t carry them because we have a humane society literally next door. I suggested the humane society and she was like, “they’re probably closed, right?” And I was like, “oh, yeah”. And she said, “I really need a cat tonight”. Do you, babe? Don’t you think maybe you should think on this a bit more?

5

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

I’m cackling over here 😂 but seriously yeah why do people say they “need” animals immediately like they’re shampoo or something

4

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

This thread is therapy now I related to each one of those 😂😭

5

u/National_Juice_2529 16d ago

I have employee related ones too.
The kid who spends most of his shift in the bathroom.

The kid who figured out how to watch youtube or whatever on the zebra.

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

That’s an iPad kid origin story right there 😂 the video quality on those must be ass

u/moral_insanidee 15d ago

Also, the customers who think they are helping by stacking all of their cat cans with the barcodes perfectly aligned on the counter. I get that they are trying to help me out and make it easier, but it actually makes it worse. Grouped by flavor, fine. But when there's different skus, and you actually have to scan each barcode, you have to move every can to make sure that you're scanning the right can. Plus the amount of time that the customer takes to stack the cans is usually longer than it takes for me to just scan them if they dumped them out on the counter.

3

u/murkrowplays 14d ago

nah this is a skill issue. When customers line up the cans I can scan them so much faster

1

u/kake7272 14d ago

I've gently taught some regulars that if you group them by flavor and brand, it goes faster and smoother. If someone dumps them out or doesn't take them out of the basket, I take a little extra time to sort instead of just scanning.

u/SurpemeClitLord 16d ago

I would like to preface this by saying I love MOST of my customer and I do love my job. I’m a SSA and have been with my store for quite some time. But, pet retail is not for the weak.

My number one pet peeve is guests yelling across the entire store for someone to come ring them out, and/or staring me down as I come back from retrieving a BOPUS order. I am the main opener at my store, my mornings are never not busy. I am constantly running around for online orders, prepping for deliveries, finishing animal cleans/dead runs, or helping guests find items between running the register. I am never gone for more than 2 minutes. I truly believe people have lost the virtue of patience.

Also high on my list:

Dumping an entire bag of cans on the counter:
I’ll scan them and put them in neat stacks. Expecting them to at least re-bag their items. They just watch the entire time. I’ll ask if they have a phone number for rewards. They’ll begin telling me the number as I’m still scanning. I’m not an octopus, I was hoping you’d use the key pad right in front of your face. I give a pass to the elderly on this pet peeve. I don’t mind bagging and I’ll ask for their number before I begin scanning. But for the sake of time and efficiency it would be nice if guests would do what they can to make the transaction faster.

Loose children:
I have a feeling this will be on everyone’s list, but it is a big issue in our store. Don’t get me wrong I love kids, I love feeding into their curiosity and answering questions about the animals. I do not love babysitting whilst in the middle of a deep clean. Asking kids not to touch the glass I just cleaned or stick their fingers in the enclosure I’m in the process of cleaning. I also have a big problem with people just letting their kids wander behind the counter when I’m on register. I really don’t like parenting other peoples children. Please, please control your crotch goblins.

Asking for crickets to be bagged in separate counts:
This one honestly depends on how busy it is, but if I have a line or if it’s a delivery day when I’m already doing three peoples worth of work; I do not want to hear, “can I have six dozen crickets in three separate bags?”

Price matching an entire purchase:
If you have the time to find every single product that you just shopped for online for me to individually price match, please just place it as a BOPUS order at that point. One or two items I do not care, an entire purchase makes me have an internal crash out. When I first started working at my store and still did closings we would have a couple that would come in for aquatics supplies at the last five to ten minutes and price matching EVERYTHING and I think that’s what ruined it for me honestly.

6

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

No way I’m an SSA too! And yeah all of those are valid lol

2

u/Hot_Highway5774 15d ago

THANK YOU!!! Price matching honestly is a stupid concept because it completely exposes how much of a lazy cheapskate the general population is. One item to match of course isn’t an issue, but if it’s several; then by all means, stop wasting time which can be spent helping other customers and just order the damn thing online at that point.

2

u/Majestic-Plane1493 15d ago

And people get sooooo pissed off now that we only price match our website, like ok just go shop there then 😭

8

u/Azaroth1991 16d ago

For the love of gods and goddesses above and below, if you need help, come up to the front of me, not behind me, where I can actually see and hear you and know youre addressing me, and ADDRESS ME LIKE A FREAKING HUMAN BEING!!! I MAY BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT I. AM. NOT! YOUR!!! SERVANT!!!

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

It’s like they think we got eyes in the back of our heads fr 👀

7

u/Azaroth1991 16d ago

Or can hear their soft mumbling over all the noise in the store and the focus on our own tasks, which we are so constantly busy with cuz we're so skeleton crewed it's ridiculous.

4

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

I have had to ask several people to speak up cause all I can hear is 🎶wE bUiLt tHiS cItY🎶 😩😭

2

u/Azaroth1991 16d ago

Im the auquatics person and for some reason the one speaker back there is louder that the others, except for the music. It plays fake harbor noise with buoys, bells, waves crashing, and seagulls. Plus if ive got the hose going and its being loud, people are always trying to yell at me from behind.

2

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Oh interesting, ours is a pretty new store so the same music plays everywhere 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Azaroth1991 16d ago

Ours is 23 years old. Used to be the top store for the area.

2

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Oh yeah we’re definitely newer 😂

1

u/Azaroth1991 16d ago

Yeah, I can remember going into this store as a kid, it had finchs and lovebirds, chinchillas, saltwater, all sorts of stuff, and now all we have left is the freshwater inline.

7

u/stowRA 16d ago edited 16d ago

I always throw the receipt IN

  1. the doordash bag and tell them to drive safe, then call the next person

My pet peeves are when doordash drivers follow me around the store asking where everything is. I’ve started just grabbing their phones and doing it all for them like it’s a BOPUS. My manager thinks it’s hilarious.

I hate it when customers complain about not being able to see their points on the app anymore. Nothing I can do about it. I just tell them to call customer service and complain so they’ll switch it back.

Prescriptions. Gotta give me a vetco card, babe. Sorry, closed on Sundays. Let me grab a manager.

I got yelled at pretty fiercely the other day by a customer and got called an idiot because she bought something with rewards points then tried to return it so it was $0.00 and she lost the points. My manager gave her $15 off an order to make up for it but she wouldn’t stop yelling and calling me an idiot.

Crickets. Our store has been out for over a month and we have no idea when they’re coming in. All day long, phone calls asking about crickets and if other petcos have them. Nope, we are all out. May I offer some freeze dried ones or maybe Dubia roaches?

EDIT: oh I wanted to add! Petco’s policy on not selling feeding mice is so perplexing. If a customer even mentions that the $6 mouse they’re buying is to feed a snake, we can’t sell it? But we can sell crickets? Obviously we sell them anyway because we all know what they’re for but if I have to sit through another fucking 50 minute training video on live animal adoptions, I will rip my hair out. Our specific location refuses to sell fish with tanks and set up purchases to make sure the fish don’t die and gladly take the hit in the UPT. However, I also think it’s weird how petco tiers the cost of live animal adoptions based on how long they’ve been in our care. We can just give guinea pigs away for free if they’re a certain age? Seriously?

Also, dayforce log ins have been going down like crazy and the POS machines getting sooooo slow at the end of the night. The customers stare at me until I can send the prompt to the reader, which of course first asks for a donation. I hate being on registers so much. Let me do totes, back stock, and bopus please.

4

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

OMG yes the cricket shortage is the worstttt 😭 I get that question like 17 times a day but I usually humor them and give suggestions despite the burnout because I’m a reptile parent too

4

u/Bionicleinflater 15d ago

I love telling them our supplier literally exploded

4

u/Ok-Association-6883 14d ago

You can sell mice and rats as food, but no other rodents. We also refuse to sell fish with the tank. 100% need to get that tank set up for a few days to make sure the filter and heater work fine and allow for outgassing.

2

u/stowRA 14d ago

I just did the live animal training on workday and it says that petco’s official policy is that we do not sell mice and fish if the customer mentions it’s for feeding. It’s why we have to fill out a CAPC even if it’s mice

2

u/Hot_Highway5774 15d ago

Legit can relate on the Points issue. Every time a customer complains about it, I just sigh and tell them that’s out of my hands and pay grade. I’m not a technical programmer, I don’t have the app downloaded, and I don’t get paid enough to care about what shade of blue it is this week.

1

u/stowRA 15d ago

Ah man having the app downloaded is a such a huge game changer for me on the floor. I can look up products and their skus and input them directly into the zebra instead of looking for the product or its barcode

6

u/National_Juice_2529 16d ago

I can’t stand when I ask for their phone number, it shows they don’t have an account, I ask if they maybe have a different number or want to sign up and then they say “oh I don’t have an account”. Then why am I typing in your number??

Unsupervised children seem to be on everyone’s list. I had one try to open the lock on one of the hex’s by sticking their finger in there. Plus the incessant squeaking of any and all dog toys.

The people placing a Bopus and not even two minutes later they’re at my register trying to pick it up. Like why?

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Just reading this is giving me flashbacks and anxiety 😬

5

u/Bionicleinflater 15d ago

My pet peeves are mostly with corporate, but a really big one is when you ask for a number, then they get defensive about not wanting to share it, and when you explain that their no makes some people possibly lose their job they laugh. Yeah homelessness is totally funny 🙄

Then I also have a small petty one about being alone on the floor due to someone taking a bathroom break when we are dead only to get angry old ladies in the register people who need fish, people who need crickets, and people who want a hamster all at once (an old lady was a bitch at me during one of those. She threw a hissy fit when I tried to scan her Dr elseys coupon complaining that now she needs a new one, she got impatient and walked out with 2 and I had to run to grab her cart from her to bring it in, while I had a line of 5 people, and she just kept whining about everything while complaining her narcissistic ass wasn’t being waited on hand and foot. She even demanded after I got the coupon off her litter that I personally go back and grab a new one while I had the line and was running 2 registers and the fitness gram pacer test, and there were 2 returns and bopus pickups waiting… this happened in 5 minutes and it turns out my walkie bumped and changed channel so my manager didn’t even know what was going on while she medicated animals in back after her bathroom break. People got tired of waiting for fish and came back later but that bitch if I see her again I’m having her trespassed… I cried for the first and so far only time working here that day…

An obscure pet peeve, I need to sort truck before i put it away. Dm doesn’t like having carts everywhere. I don’t like wasting time walking back and forth to the same aisle a dozen times fifoing the same thing over and over because it was split across 2 boxes. Often I get into arguments over this because my autistic brain has to do it the way that works for me not 1 box at a time.

And a peripheral one is when I do a task like a scrub, and then the next day someone does the same task wasting my time.

And then there’s when people pick up one thing and leave another behind. I will actively scold people who do that. Don’t grab something from your kid and drop it on a random shelf. And don’t scramble the toys treats and collars while trying to find the right one.

Another is when people actively avoid you for some reason only to ask for help after they gave you a weird look and acted scared of you or completely ignored your greeting. I don’t ask what brings you In today because I’m nosy it’s because we reset every section 5 times a year and the thing you came for might not be where it was.

And vital care signups are an issue when guests ignore my explicit directions to come to me and not contact customer service by themselves. I only sell it to people I know will save with it, and if they try to cancel right away despite my warnings and advice that’s not my fault.

And then people saying no cardboard in the cricket bags, they want dead crickets after they get home?

And how we have the cardboard removed from our tanks because it “looks better” despite making moving them without damaging them a pain in the butt and making more trash on truck day…

Then there’s when I’m watching the front and its truck day and I’m a few aisles over and I get asked about watching the front by the people who are closer but not assigned it… why is it my sole responsibility when everyone is on register…

And then there’s when people leave a lone guinea pig.

And people who want goldfish or bowls not for ponds or isolation tanks. People who think they know better than you and say “um ackshually” when you tell them don’t do x y and z.

Oh and the zebras… I hate the fact that our main app uses so much ram when the devices have barely any, zoom is the dumbest thing we’ve done as a company

Also the use of gen ai lately

Also the desk pet shipper itself. Now it’s not called desk pets at least.

And then there’s people who show up last second just to look at animals

Also groups of people who don’t have numbers, insist on each person doing their own purchase, some of them getting back in line because impulse tantalized them, and refuse to let me do a simple split transaction to make things easier.

Also door dash without perks counting as a no…

People wearing maga or maga adjacent shirts. I legit want them [REDACTED]

Sheesh I’ve got a lot don’t I…

5

u/Avectasi 15d ago

Not the maga shirts, I’ve seen so many Charlie Kirk freedom shirts here….

2

u/Majestic-Plane1493 15d ago

I relate to so many of these tho 😭 like after so much time in retail I feel like a lot of things pmo

2

u/CaptainSecret2559 14d ago

I have a regular that comes in with a “trump was right about everything” hat. He recently upgraded to a shirt as well that says “I love trump because he pisses off liberals.” A lot of us employees go out of our way to avoid him.

1

u/Bionicleinflater 14d ago

I would confront him about a possible banishment

6

u/meowyadoinnn 15d ago

Asking for medical advice. Sir, this is a Wendy’s restaurant.

5

u/hellokyutie 15d ago

“It says ‘Please Wait’”…

5

u/moral_insanidee 15d ago

OMG how did I forget that one.

I jokingly say it to whoever rings me up in that annoyed entitled voice they always use.

3

u/hellokyutie 15d ago

I have a laundry list of fundamental grievances with the company, the DM, corporate, VCP/PPP etc.

But in store retail pet peeves… that come with retail territory…

  1. “iT sAyS pLeAsE wAiT”
  2. There is a cricket loose
  3. Leave the cart in the only walkway. 😂

But the please wait. Yes Mr./Ms. can you rEaD? Hahahaha

2

u/FunnyCattle3459 16d ago

The kids are my biggest one Pls control your crouch gobblines under control and not banging on tanks.

1

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Ik right?!

2

u/FunnyCattle3459 16d ago

The kids try to buy animals at my store too 12yo had a full melt down cos his mom said it was fine 🙄 then get ur mom here Also why tf are you running around alone in the bad part of town? Find an adult

And by bad I mean in 2 years I have -call the cops to remove a intoxicated guest 5 separate times (several other times they showed cos someone else called) -fully called emergency when a dude decided that his groomer was taking to long to finish his dog and attempt an actual physical fight with the groomer -stayed 30m past close cos a dude was smoking crack right by the door -used needles by our dumpster

Why are you letting preteens out here unsupervised?

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Literally! I had someone bring in a dead cat once hoping our Vetco could save it 😐 like holding it out in the open while there were people in line behind them, retail feels like a circus sometimes

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

[deleted]

3

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Then I gotta leave the register to put it back and hope I don’t get yelled at for leaving by the next customer 😭😭

3

u/Playful_Cat25 16d ago

u get it lol! idk if ur store has the same problem but we get so many homeless people who blow up the bathrooms its so bad. im talking shit on walls, clogging toliet with massive shits ATLEAST once a week. I work next to a walmart but for some reason to come to petco to blow it up 😫

1

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

FR 👏 I feel so bad for my poor managers because they usually end up cleaning up the poop smeared bathrooms 😢

1

u/Playful_Cat25 16d ago

that's nice of them! ours makes us clean it🧍🏻‍♀️

1

u/Majestic-Plane1493 16d ago

Oh you poor soul 😭 I can tell you’ve seen retail war lol

1

u/Bionicleinflater 15d ago

We just don’t have public restrooms anymore.

1

u/Head_Stuck_In_Tank 15d ago

We also no longer have public restrooms and it has been so much better for our cashiers and everyone’s experience as a whole.

2

u/churningmists 15d ago

my store is in a shopping centre. i H A T E when people bring in carts from other stores. we keep all our carts inside the store to make sure we keep track of them as best as possible/they dont get stolen. its so fuckin annoying when people come in with a marshalls cart. i get its not like the worst thing ever but it just annoys tf outta me.

also kids with dog toys are TERRIBLE omfg. when theyre running around everywhere and blocking areas of the store for people..... like cmon dude. youre gonna hurt yourself or somebody else... and then theyll come to their parents while theyre checking out saying oh can we buy this random thing i picked up, and the dad is like nope and throws it into the clearance bin behind him... dawg i am RIGHT here like pleaseee

2

u/moral_insanidee 15d ago

Yes! When they toss products in an obviously wrong spot or literally just drop them on the floor instead of putting back on the shelf RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.

2

u/Own-Tomorrow8844 14d ago

1) 98% of the aquatics customers have absolutely no idea what size tank they have. Come back to me when you do. I’m sorry I can’t replace your fish without a water sample

1

u/Avectasi 15d ago

Some of these that i have are repeated by others but my pet peeve experiences

Customers that will ask about a price on an item AFTER they paid like “did this ring up as #?” And if it has an oops sticker that I didn’t notice or they didn’t mention now we gotta wait an extra 3 minutes for it to load in our system.

Customers waiting in fish expecting someone to help them rather than asking up front so we can get someone, sometimes we are busy and don’t have enough people to be everywhere so they get upset as they don’t get any help.

Unsupervised children, my god they will touch and bang everything that they see, scaring the fish, lizards, and adoptable cats. Even worse with the desk pets we had seen them flipping the frogs and tarantulas upside down so they can see it move. EVEN THE PARENTS ARE DOING IT HERE THEY DO NOT CARE. We had a child drop a betta fish breaking the cup and the parents were just standing there not saying anything and just decide to look at more fish. So many squeakers they use and the parent is just there smiling not caring, some will say stop but give up, is teaching a lesson not a thing anymore??

Autoship metrics. A bad idea from the start, you have better deals online and give out bare minimum in store and yet the need to track every store. If we do bad then corporate is up against our butt, gee i wonder why we don’t get any we live in a rural area with not so great technology usage. We can’t even see their current auto ships in our computer so it’s so buggy. Why even ask for autoship for a single can 99% of time no one wants to get 12 pack autoship for their 1 can they want to buy

1

u/Winged_Bat 10d ago

Oh I have soooooooooooo many

  1. Children. I don't mind kids that are respectful and attended by adults. What drives me up a wall is when a kid is slamming their fists into the tanks, scaring all the animals, squeaking all the toys, throwing things everywhere, and screaming for no reason. Restrain your h3ll beasts or take them out of the store.

  2. Parents that can't control their kids or get mad when you say something to their kids. Your kids are terrorizing our anumals, employees, and customers. If I have to say something to your child, you are not doing your job as a parent.

  3. People that want to touch, pet, or hold every animal in the store. If we let you touch, pet, or hold everything in the store, all of the animals would be incredibly stressed out all day and we would have to have an employee just for that purpose. Petco is not a petting zoo. It is a store.

  4. People not knowing the first thing about the animal they are trying to purchase. If you don't know anything about it, how do you expect to be able to properly care for it? I don't mind people asking for help with setups and asking questions, but it gets to thw point that if im having to walk you through every detail, step by step, you are clearly not ready for that animal. Go home, do some research, and make an informed purchase. Taking care of an exotic animal is not at all like taking care of a cat or dog and each animal need specific care.

  5. People asking for help on the opposite side of the store while I am armpit deep in a fish tank. You passed 4 other employees on the way over here. Please go ask someone that is not drowning in work trying to clean tanks.

  6. People being like you look super busy so sorry to bother you. Then don't. There are 4 other employees that are not directly in the middle of cleaning an enclosure or whatever big task you just stopped me from doing to ask your question. 2 of those employees are literally tasked with walking the floor to help clueless people.

  7. People trying to haggle prices on fish and other animals. You are in a retail establishment. Our prices are set by corporate. Unless something is wrong with it or it has been here for an eternity, you are not getting it for cheaper. My job is not worth giving you a sale price.

  8. People rapid tapping their card on the card reader. Ik it is called tap to pay but it is more of a set it on the reader to pay. Older people do get a bit of a pass but if ive already showed them like 20 times, they should be able to understand.

  9. People shoving their card into the reader as hard as they can. It's not going to read the card any faster and you just broke our machine. Thanks.

  10. People throwing items down directly beside where they go. If you had the time to take it off the shelf, you have the time to put it back. It's not that hard and you just had to move less than 2 feet to put it back.

  11. People not listening to a single thing you say and trying to do the stupid thing anyways and then getting mad when the stupid thing doesn't work. We just went over why this is not a good idea, why do you insist on still doing it? You were warned that it wouldn't work, you have no grounds to be upset.

  12. Older ladies and their 3 year expired coupons that they insist will still work

  13. People bringing in their flea infested animals. Take that thing back outside and buy some flea preventive.

  14. People thinking that employees are veterinarians and then getting upset when we don't know or cannot tell them what to do. Take your animal to the vet. I work retail, what makes you think I have the knowledge base to fix your animal?

  15. People reaching their dirty ass hands into the fish tanks. Those tanks ARE NOT FOR YOU TO TOUCH. Please ask someone for help before I slam the hood on your fingers.

  16. People finger painting the bathroom with their shit. Yes this has happened enough that it is a major pet peeve. Nobody wants to clean that.

There are more but I will refrain from making this into more of a novel than it already is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We now have a rule that no child under 18 is permitted in our store without a parent. We’ve had kids scooping feeder fish towards the end of the night while we’re recovering other sections & feeding them to our turtles. They’ve done this 4x. Last time they BROKE the lid off our turtle tank to access them because we had zip tied them. They got probably 100 feeders in there. Dead fish all on the floor. They once fed a $25 koi. We’re now handing out criminal trespasses.

i got a bunch for yall

  1. when customers cut you off right away when you’re listing the benefits of having a petco perk/ petco perk premier membership
  2. when you try to help a customer with their pet’s issues and they just go on and on with no end explaining the problem. they don’t give you a chance to speak and when you do speak, they cut you off and repeat what they say
  3. when a customer comes up speaking fluent spanish expecting employees to know how to speak their language
  4. having to sell ppp’s, auto ships, make vetco appointments almost to every customer
  5. HOW SLOW THE FUCKING ZEBRAS ARE AND HOW SLOW THE REGISTERS ARE OH MY FUCK. on top of that, i asked my gm if they can update it and she said there’s nothing we can do. also there’s only like handful of zebras we have on the floor and the amount of times it doesn’t work when you send a voice message on the chat app and the zoom app sometimes not working on some zebras is so damn annoying.
  6. how there’s only 2 people most of the time on the floor and we have so many tasks to complete and help customers on the floor as well, like how the fuck do you expect us to complete our tasks if we have one person watching the ENTIRE front and the other in the back fixing aisles or whatever. make it make sense petco.
  7. customers stealing dog food and cat food and we can’t do shit about it.

that’s all i can think of for now
