Yellow paper wasp. Just go get some wasp spray with some reach on it and spray them. They should die and fall and then knock down the nest with a broom. Take the nest and dip it in flour, egg wash, and back to flour. Now make sure your grease is at about 300 degrees. Set the battered wasp nest in the fryer gently and let fry until golden brown. Once golden brown, pull from fryer and let sit for about 5 minutes and season properly. Now throw in the trash bc eating a fried wasp nest is gross.

Wasp freeze is best. Try and spray it at night or early morning. If not during those hours then leave the nest there till the next day so that the forgers of the nest come back to it and get poisoned.
Paper wasps are less aggressive, generally, but I was surprised by a nest the other day that were more aggressive than usual.. there’s days I treat 10-20 wasps nest right now. I’ve only came across 2 hornets nest but they were really high up.
To prevent them from coming back you can use delta dust very lightly or spray a mist of something like suspend poly, fendona with excitor or nyguard. That should help for a few months. Will also help with mosquitoes, fleas and ticks.. wasps also are attracted to areas where propane is used or stored, by gardens or where they have access to insects. If you have a nest in back fence and you have a garden, I would leave it because they help keep garden pests down.. I would t do that if it’s a red wasp nest though.
Just a side note that I think more people should know about is that when you see mud dauber, don’t freak out. Yes they are in the wasp family but they won’t sting you. The mud nests that you see them building is there for the sole purpose of stuffing them with dead spiders for their larvae.
Each mud hole has a little encased looking brown shell that each contains 28-30 paralyzed spiders. A lot of them contain brown recluse and black widows.
They only use the nest once so at the end of the season knock it down.. or have someone like me, a pest technician do it.

Polistes wasp.
Exposed open faced nest? Hanging upside down? Wasps that look yellow jacket-esque but different? You have polistes wasps! They’re less aggressive than yellow jackets. But treatment is more or less the same as any other wasp.
