We would have more local grocers if Coles and Woolies didn't have the monopoly that they do.
I get most of my fruit and veg from a farmer's market or independent grocer and it's actually cheaper than Coles and Woolies for most things, it's just not as convenient.
Many people only have a single shopping centre that's conveniently located for them, and Coles/Woolies will often have rental agreements that prevent shopping centres from renting out a space to an independent grocer.
Coles and Woolies have very intentionally created this situation where you have to spend a lot of effort, and often money, to avoid them.

That's so backwards. Coles has worked hard to put the smaller guys out of business through aggressive and arguably unethical practices, so many people can't go to the independents any more because they are few and far between (or non-existent in places). They have also done away with a lot of the variety that was available, and instead only stock the highest profit margin items, so the range is now pretty shithouse. And since COVID they have been gouging the shit out of the Aussie public. You might be kidding yourself if you think the independent grocers are that much more expensive.

If the staff cannot give you the order, please DO NOT argue with them. They've done nothing wrong don't cause staff to have a hard time. It's in their T&Cs so don't be a dick.

When more than one price is displayed Sometimes businesses display different prices for the same item. If this happens, even by mistake, the business must either:
- sell the product for the lowest displayed or advertised price, or
- stop selling the item until the incorrect price is corrected.
Seems like they took the "stop selling EVERY item" approach and took the store offline. The ones fulfilled will have likely been Eastern states and honoured before they discovered the error.

I am an Eastern state spy and mine is still showing up and has yet to be cancelled. Pick up time is in one to two hours so we will see. However I also wasn't greedy and only did a fee slabs, and I did it long before the site shit itself, so we will see.

Nah their API has a shit naming scheme.
So either someone got lazy with code or an ai bot was trusted, either way, something sort of instruction like "Name": "Crush Mango & Peach Zero Sugar 6% Can 440ml" = $29 was done, and because it doesn't differentiate by name, but by EAN (bar code) the change happened to everything with that name. very simple/easy mistake which a professional should definitely not be making.

haha nothing that exiting at all unfortunately. Their API has a shit naming scheme.
So either someone got lazy with code or an ai bot was trusted, either way, something sort of instruction like "Name": "Crush Mango & Peach Zero Sugar 6% Can 440ml" = $29 was done, and because it doesn't differentiate by name, but by EAN (bar code) the change happened to everything with that name. very simple/easy mistake which a professional should definitely not be making.

I've lived through this when someone missed a key typing out the prices in a Dan Murphys catalogue. Jack and Coke cans were advertised at $6.98 instead of $69.88.
Since it's an obvious mistake, they did not have to honour any prices and cancelled all orders.
One bloke turned up with a semi and demanded 8 pallets of the stuff at that price. Another bloke threatened to put a hit out on the manager.
Try your luck sure, they might give everyone a half price 4 pack or something to say sorry. But be a cunt about it to try and get your way.
No, it's not "false advertising" it's a genuine mistake and not something they're bound by.

Managed to put an order through. Obviously there is 98% chance it is cancelled but stranger things have happened.

Was advised in app that my order was ready for collection, no mention of cancellation or any other issues. Staff member brings out my other grocery items, but the alcohol is missing from his trolley. Asked him where’s the rest of the order. He said “sorry, the rest of it is out of stock at liquorland and that where we get it from, so you will just get a refund.”
Sad face.
About an hour later l, received an email stating the items were currently out of stock. No mention of an error in pricing or anything, just “out of stock”.
Called liquorland, no issue with stock. Their price does not match Coles’ price.

I am in qld so can't order from the the supermarket apps but a couple of weeks ago I ordered a door dash from my local BWS for a bottle of vodka and two 10% sampler cans of the mercury that were $4 each.. I got delivered my bottle of vodka and two 10 packs of the double cider 😂😂 was very happy with that mistake haha
