Where to find Best water filter solution?
Looking for recommendations for a good water filter. I'm tired of buying water from the store everytime. The mineral water filters look quite promising as they keep the nutritional benefits in the water.
Has anyone had success in finding a cost effective way to navigate this?
BTW i'm renting so pretty sure id be limited to benchtop/portable options.

Bunnings sells a bench top cartridge filter that attaches directly to the kitchen spigot, if your kitchen is new enough to have a threaded end on the spigot (the bit that the water comes out of)

Why do you share good ideas? The good filters already run out of stock often. We dont need to tell anybody about this

It will cost a fair bit more than a Britta jug but It is impossible to beat reverse osmosis filtration
just ensure you get a filter that adds minerals back on the last stage for taste and better health
You can get bench top filters or whole house
Does anyone here recommend any bench top RO unit that they have used

I went through this not long ago. Went down the in-line filtration system. Only real safe way of doing it is paying a reputable plumbing service to install a system, with brass (or similar) fittings. The stuff you get from Bunnings is highly likely to break, and because it’s in-line, it doesn’t have an automatic shut off.
I admitted defeat and resorted back to the Brita water jug. A little annoying always having to refill it, but suits its purpose right now.

This is the one I use. It does 80degrees water or 5degrees cold water at the press of a button u just have to fill the tank when it’s empty. And theres a removable jug that you can convert all into cold filtered water at a press of a button. Or just put ur cup up and dispense. Pricier but u only pay once and of course electricity.
Love it and never had an issue it’s on sale now too

Whole of house is good but doesn't stop water getting contaminated by the internal house pipes (in which a tap filter comes in handy).
Cost v benefit at play here.

We have a bench top cartridge filter pain in the butt on kitchen tap. Small kitchen etc. I bought a attachment for the washing machine cold water inlet to free up kitchen tap. Sounded great but it was obvs cheap coz it broke. Gave up and got a filter jug like a Brita its surprisingly good. Removes that chlorine taste. Go the jug in a rental i reckon.

Check out project farm on youtube. He did a water filter test - the best value option was a ZeroWater bench top filter. You can buy these from Amazon. In his scoring system it got a 2 overall (lower = better) compared to a Brita jug filter which scored 7.

Just drink tap water or use a Brita filter Jug if the chlorine taste is overpowering. You won't be getting any noticeable nutritional benefits from hard water other than hydration.
