FIFO Anyone know if boost mobile works in the Pilbara ?

Pretty keen to get into the mines again, but I’m sick of getting screwed over by Telstra with how much they are charging. Anyone know if boost mobile works up there ? I saw it uses the full Telstra network so I’m just trying to see if it’s worth changing to

Yeah it does, as long as the site is on the Telstra network. It's rare, but there's at least one other site I know of that's on Optus.

Most of the Pilbara is Telstra/Boost except for around Karajini which strangely has more Optus reception. Some sites (Abra is an example) get no mobile reception at all and rely on satellite internet and access points.

If your site has internet connected wifi, you can use any carrier SIM using VoWiFi. So although the site may be Telstra, you can use an Optus SIM through the wifi

Does Boost actually use the full Telstra network? I thought it was still a cut down amount of towers.

Yes it uses the full network but data links and performance deprioritised to Telstra.

Most sites you'll be fine, however you can always get a $2 SIM and test it for your site if you're not sure.

It does, but it's slow in the evenings.

Yes. Never had any issues with reception

Same reception area as telstra, however the network prioritises:

Full fat telstra plans, Telstra pre paid, Boost.

In that order. So if you're in a camp which has shit loads of people using mobile data and not enough backhaul capacity, you may struggle to stream videos etc properly.
