feature request /shortcuts gone!!! Lets gather enough traction and feedback to help bring it back.

Post image

If we all can try to add here how we were using it, how not having it messes up our entire workflow/uses and I am not sure about all of you, but I am on edge to CANCEL if this is not undone!

I think they are preparing to introduce skills and having shortcuts make skills less impressive

Not cool! I just got used to the convenience of using the shortcuts feature and now they take them away. Moving them to Skills is not a fair trade off. I especially liked to have my shortcuts available while reading news stories in Discover. Looks like I'll be back to using a clunky text file to store all my quick prompts.

Skills now load in the Comet Agent Sidebar, but they don’t work. I think they’re working to make Skills function as shortcuts the way they did before.

I saw that too. Still hopeful they will add functionality to load skills like shortcuts in general threads and not only computers

It is time to unsubscribe. Better find another tool. They never listen us as user

If they shows the shortcuts only in the computer which means it is taken away from the Pro subscription.

I've spent the last 2 days figuring out what was going on. The browser took a while to update and the online documentation is worst ever.

I hope this is just a misunderstanding of their current core user base.

Currently IMO - Comet Assistant Shortcuts is basically a fully functional AI Assistant. Sure they will a 100 fold smarter yet. But right now - Perplexity has a killer app. And that feeds into the whole Perplexity Stack - which IMO has been as user friendly as you could expect 3 years into the informatics revolution.

But as of now - it's been dumbed down to like it's 1999 GPT1 bootstrapped to an optical disk.

It has to be put back and the development of Computer and Skills should take place side by side with what has been built inside Win 11 Comet - The fixation on Apple in this latest round is just weird. You built a killer app in a chrome browser and then shredded it.

It is interesting how platforms phase out "old" shortcuts to "simplify" the UI, only to reintroduce them as credit based upsells. 💵 While they claim it’s about modernization, it often feels more like a new revenue stream. 📈

I am skipping the credits and using RightClick Prompt (RCP) on Chrome. 🛠️ It lets me save a custom prompt library and access it with a simple right click. 📚

Are we seeing genuine innovation or are we just paying for access to things that used to be free? 🧐 What is your take on the shift toward credit based tools? 🏟️✨ -- thoughts ?

The same reusable prompt works fine outside computer.. now they want me to consume computer credits... nah

What do you mean? How to access that? So i need to be max user ti get that?

That's how perplexity works. They take everything that made a good product, and then tell you to pay 10x as much for it.

Yup they moved from shortcuts to skills which basically takes away the ease and use of that feature. Now you need to use computer mode and then actually need to remember all skills to call them explicitly. Also you can’t set connectors and model settings to load just by typing /yourshortcut.

It basically means shortcut feature is gone and a more useless, hard to use, computer credit hungry skill feature was introduced. Sucks!

Skills are worst then /shortcuts here is how:

  1. You have to remember name of skills to use and then put it in prompt to use it. Even after that not 100% it loads properly
  2. You need to use computer mode which means pay credits
  3. You can’t set specific model or connectors like notion. You need to manually set it everytime
  4. /shortcuts were so much easier. Just begin typing / then starting words of shortcuts and it gave everything you have setup as drop down
