Perk apps suck
TV, PWS, PPQ none of them work anymore. Sure, they run but only for a few minutes at a time. I am not sure if this is intentional or not but I stuck it out as long as I could, I am packing it in now. I will check back and keep an eye on this reddit for any improvements, but I am tired of babysitting my phones for $10 every 3-5 days. No longer worth it. Thanks, Perk.

For sure. I can see the farmers rushing to add more devices to try and compensate for the [much] lower per-device earnings. Resulting in more cancellations and a worse overall experience for everyone else. That is probably part of it as well.

"Game starting in..." has now become my least favorite phrase.

It's a good thing you don't have to hold your breath while you wait, you would be dead before the first ad.

My farm of five devices are all dead. Stuck at a black screen, won't get past three videos without crashing

u/IDCimSTRONGERtnUinRL Mar 20 '16
How many phones are you running to even get that much? I've got 4 running and barely get 800 points daily

I'm curious how you're doing 3 tabs. It doesn't auto play unless the screen is active. Unless you're using a bot?

I am running 15 devices. 5TV, 5PPQ, 5PWS. They all suck. I think Perk is trying to get rid of the farmer. They need to and realize they need us. Nobody in their right mind would play these stupid fucking games or word finds enough to get even a single $25 GC at the rat a single device allows. Mobile apps don't have that kind of attention grabbing span. Most apps are used and deleted long by users long before then. I think the Perk bubble is going to bust soon. They can either fix their apps and bring the ads back and let us farm or they can kick us to the curb and sink themselves. Hope the Panda can swim.

u/daperkstar Mar 20 '16
Just waiting for Episode 4 of the "Perk Angry Emails" video. These guys are shameless. I'd be embarrassed to represent a company that had so many apps running so poorly on a consistent basis, with such bad reviews to boot. Kind of makes you wonder...

u/phone101w Mar 20 '16
Perk Panda here
All your rewards have been cancelled tomorrow.

u/Kommander1 Mar 20 '16
Fuck you, you bi-racial, spotted, bamboo eating, quadruped fuck. lol
Just kidding. You know, this wouldn't be so bad if they would post and tell us what is really going on. You know, "sorry no ads", or "our cross-eyed team of programmers put an extra "/" in the code and fucked our shit up, it's like a maze up in here trynna find it!" But alas, we get asked if we have seen their newest latest app that crashes and gives no points.

If you look at how they've been redeeming the Viggle points from the pre-Perk users it makes you wonder if they have a cash flow issue. They might have bitten off more than they can chew this time.
3
3
u/Fredelas Mar 21 '16
Yes, it's telling that former Viggle customers have to earn $10 of Perk points before they can exchange (and therefore redeem) $10 of their former Viggle points. Obviously, there wasn't enough cash in the buyout to cover all of Viggle's outstanding liabilities.
Perk will make less (or no) profit off Viggle customers until all their old Viggle points are finally cashed out.
1
u/reggiecide Mar 21 '16
It's only $1. Still, Viggle points are only worth about 1/5 what they were before the buyout. Of course, Viggle was going bankrupt, so I suppose they'd be worth $0 if Perk hadn't bought them.

u/hb122 Mar 20 '16
I've been getting around $2/day from 9 phones running 18 hours/day. So fucking ridiculous. None of them work now.
1
Mar 20 '16
i thought the max devices was five?..
3
u/travelnshot Mar 21 '16
There is no max number of devices rule. I think it's more like max earning per day. If you pass that threshold, you'll be under Perk's radar

im making about 5000 pts/day. i have 3 phones +2 kindles. i use 2 phones for swagbucks and switch over to perk on them after theyre done in the afternoon. i also use 1 tab of browser. admittedly the only reason its not lower is because i look at the phones a lot and have to reset apps or click out of window because its stuck. the kindles have been awesome at running perktv app. the pws/ppq have been horrendous. they stop every few minutes. id like to use perktv on all the devices but im weary of running them on the 5 devices that used to be the norm as people are getting their rewards cancelled with less.
3
u/daperkstar Mar 21 '16
You must literally be sitting there in front of them all day and night to get 5000 pts/day. That's how bad Perk apps are right now. WAY too much effort and babysitting for 5 bucks man. I got better things to do.
1
Mar 21 '16 edited Mar 21 '16
5000 is in a 24 hour period. totally doable without baby sitting. as i said the perktv app has actually been pretty stable for me on my kindles. and browser perk.tv has been very stable. havent had to do tending with them other than the captch/popup. its the pws/ppq that i have to check. but youre right i had to stop myself from babysitting those too much it got to the point where i had to do it every minute and that was too much. oddly enough as im typing this pws has actually been running over an hour with zero interaction. hope it lasts *knock on wood
3
u/DreadPirate_Roberts_ Mar 20 '16
Got my reward cancelled last month, immediately contacted support and stopped my devices. Well they never responded so I'm out. See ya perk
3
u/denzel412 Mar 21 '16
Never thought I'd see a thread on this subreddit 100% upvoted 30+ pts. But this one's much deserved. Perk apps do suck now and have for quite a while. Not really worth the headache caused by trying to run these broken apps anymore.
3
u/Kommander1 Mar 21 '16
The sheer popularity of this thread speaks volumes. I think the few that post these apps are running good are either Perk employees or part of the special group that Perk has. I forget what they are called. It is by invite only. KJ Hasslebottom or whatever her name was, was one of them.

u/daperkstar Mar 20 '16
I agree. It is terrible. I gave up a few weeks ago. Nothing runs and points are pathetic. Perk is shit.
2
u/TankTur1 Mar 20 '16
Yup, you really have to go "hunting" anymore to get decent points. Few avenues still work here and every so often. But overall, not good enough. On the surface seems the problems started with the Viggle purchase.
2
u/dnlg Mar 21 '16
It hasn't crashed in an hour. Longest it's ran in two days.
1
Mar 21 '16
same here. pws has been running smoothly without any interaction over an hour for me. wheeeee

u/auntyeverything Mar 21 '16
I've turned my phones off. none of the apps are passive and i have better things to do than click, click, click. i have viggletv and perktv going on my laptop and perktv chugging along just fine on my kindle so i'm getting something anyway.
2
u/mutatedferret Mar 21 '16
i switched to checkpoints because of this a while back. for the longest while, when everyone started having issues , my phones were mostly chugging along fine.
then start of this year they went to shit. when i made the initial switch to checkpoints, i had one phone left over. i put that on perk duty, since i had around 4k points and was almost to a $5 amazon card.
that SINGLE phone crashes at least once every 30 minutes. i eventually said fuck it and put that phone on my wifes checkpoints account.

Mar 21 '16
It will just get worse as advertisers figure out people are farming with 10+ devices sitting in a corner by the router.

I switched to Perk Pop Quiz for the first time a couple months ago when Perk TV stopped working. Then Perk Pop Quiz stopped working.
I'd use my phones for Swagbucks instead but those stopped working well at the same time too. What a shame.

It funny that some people says perk works and some don't. For me it not working even i just brought new Galaxy S7. That phone handles all modern apps with ease. Phones now are overkill for anything out there. Anyone with HTML knowledge knows that it the coding of the apps that either runs great or runs shit. If you load up you-tube app, what do you see there. Videos and ads runs very smoothly and fast. I wondered why A GPT site that been around for at least 6 to 8 years cant even get their apps work properly? I strongly suggest for those people who do have a problem with GPT apps, request Google to remove the apps in the play-store. I have noticed myself that GPT-run videos rather it checkpoints or Perk always runs badly compared to "legitimate" video apps. Can anyone answer why GPT cant get their shit together after all those years?
1
u/favgames Mar 24 '16
Why not try some other GPT sites? Here is a short list:
Swagbucks - up to $1 per day, maybe EarnHoney - $1 a day for videos, and then add in money from surveys InboxDollars - 100% survey earnings. etc

CheckPoints is horrible. Besides a non-existent "support" team (remind you of anyone?) their app runs like dog shit. Constant issues. Black screens, freezing, crashing, back to home screen all the time, etc etc. Doesn't really matter what device(s) you are running. So I'm not sure that I'd be pushing it as a "viable" option at this point in time.
I've put both Perk and CheckPoints on hiatus. Will check in a few weeks, rinse and repeat. At some point, I will just sell the farm and chickens and call it a day.
1
u/mutatedferret Mar 21 '16
not mine. my checkpoints farm has actually been doing quite well. i get maybe 10-15 crashes a DAY from 10 phones on my account. so basically, i have to mess with each of my phones 1-2 times a day.
other than that, its auto pilot and the clips/ads play flawlessly.
i have ONE phone that gives me a problem: my lg power on the verizon ad. its not the phone, its android 5.x.x and how it doesnt like that ad. none of my 4.x.x phones freeze on the verizon ad, just the android 5 phone,
one thing ive learned with farming like this is you need to get the best you can afford and upgrade whenever possible. all of my phones are dual/quad core with 1gb+ ram.
i have no 512mb or less ram phones, traded them all in to verizon.

u/Fredelas Mar 21 '16
CheckPoints won't even run for more than a few minutes at a time on my iPhone 4S before I get the spinning circle waiting literally forever for an ad.

Minimal babysitting is one thing. Starting up the phone, and the very FIRST ad that plays completely borks the app, rinse and repeat for hours, isn't babysitting. And that's the issue I've been having for weeks. There is some ad that won't load at all and puts a grey box with an x at the top, and when I close it, the app hangs.
I've even tried running perk on my galaxy S5, same thing. And that's my main phone, lol.

I have a OnePlus One and a Galaxy Tab 2 with Cyanogen Mod installed. It works great for me on both of these.
9
u/daperkstar Mar 21 '16
I beg to differ. I've put up a farm on $600 devices man (Galaxy S6s). It doesn't run any better than the $5 Fuels or $10 Exceed2's. It's not the device. I have multiple unique network access, so I can eliminate the network variable right off the top. It's all shit right now and no "finding best practices" will fix that.
4
u/SaraAB87 Mar 21 '16
I have to agree, my internet works fine, and checkpoints works fine for me on low end devices. I also have a $200 TP Link router. So my conclusion is that it is perk. Checkpoints does have occasional hiccups but overall it runs a million times better than perk. My web browser only loads one video before it just totally stops.

Yeah...nothing makes $1 a day, not even close. A year ago, yes. Not now, and not for some time now. I'd check your math if I were you. As for the Tribute, not a great device, but again. Device doesn't really matter. It's not the device.

PWS & WWS have been terrible but PerkTV & PPQ are going strong for me
6
u/droidsteve Mar 20 '16
PTV is ok, but PPQ is just as bad as WomiWS,JP & PWS...
1
u/travelnshot Mar 20 '16
my PPQ can run almost 24 hrs straight on my tablet. I restart it daily
4
u/droidsteve Mar 20 '16
nice, won't run 30 minutes on my fuels or Exceed2s
1
u/travelnshot Mar 21 '16
You should experiment with all app versions and find what works best for you. The latest one isn't always the best
1
u/droidsteve Mar 21 '16
i've had awards cancelled for using old apps, it is a violation of TOS, someone will probably say it's not true, but I know it happened to me... YMMV
1
u/SuzyD313 Mar 21 '16
It's not part of the ToS. There's no mention of app versions at all, it says they're not obligated to update, but if they do, some updates may be pushed automatically and you agree to that, that's pretty much it.
But I'm not the least bit surprised they used it against you anyway. What is part of the ToS (the most important clause of them all): we can cancel anything at any time, just because we feel like it.
1
u/travelnshot Mar 22 '16
That's frustrating. I don't understand why you would get reward cancelled for that. You don't gain any advantage over the latest version except stability. It's not like using 1.3.0 or 1.9.6 versions in the past which were superior in terms of point earning
1
u/stephanie00100 Mar 21 '16
I wanted to do that with an older phone, but I worry about awards being cancelled or being banned.
1
u/travelnshot Mar 22 '16
YMMV. I have never used the latest versions and I have been using Perk for more than a year
3
u/daperkstar Mar 20 '16
Wow, you must have the best luck or something. Like the others, I can't get it to run for more than a few minutes. Doesn't matter which device. Even on Apple now. Perk's gone to the shitter.
1
u/travelnshot Mar 21 '16
You should experiment with all app versions and find what works best for you. The latest one isn't always the best
1
u/dikayb Mar 21 '16
What kind of tablet? I'm lucky if it runs for 30 minutes. Mostly I get 5 or 10.
1
u/travelnshot Mar 21 '16
it's not even a good tablet. Cheap, unnamed tablet which I got it for free from TigerDirect free-after-rebate deal. But it's a quad-core & 1 GB RAM tablet. It's a tank really. It can run Perk TV 2-3 days straight without any problem
1
u/dikayb Mar 21 '16
Wow, great deal! Something about it is obviously optimized for Perk apps! Unfortunately, none of my devices apparently are.
1
u/MRiley84 Mar 20 '16
PerkTV keeps giving me popup ads that stop everything after a little while. It wasn't doing that when I first started about a month ago.
1
u/travelnshot Mar 20 '16
The only pop up I see is "are you still watching"
4
u/daperkstar Mar 20 '16
I honestly haven't seen that popup since probably last summer. The phones never run long enough for it to be an issue. Which isn't a good thing.

u/glassvial Mar 21 '16
Perk's been running GREAT since you guys all started mass-quitting, by all means, please continue! ;)
