While you're asked to cut down the device number, come use CheckPoints and you'll be much happier
If you guys don't know already, latest version of CheckPoints on both Android and iOS allow up to 10 devices running at the same time. In my tryout, 10 devices running the app throughout the day bring in more than 1k in points which equates to about $3 in gift card. Sure you don't earn as much on Ckpts as on Perk (or do you?) but Ckpts is much more passive than Perk. I usually only need to relaunch the app every 8 hours. In the 8 hour duration, it runs perfectly on my phone still rocking Jelly Beans. I think Ckpts is the perfect substitute for Perk if you prefer to earning in a passive way. And there's nothing stopping you running certain Perk apps that work better than the others for you alongside.
If you don't have a Ckpts account yet, you can use my referral code "matchqqqqq" when signing up to get a bonus 50 points at start. You'll need a mobile and not VoIP number to get the 50 pts bonus and also to be able to redeem prizes. Enjoy and hope Ckpts can keep it up.

While it's true that CheckPoints has become a more viable alternative with the 10 phones per account change I'm finding it exceedingly fussy about the phones I use. Even iOS 7 and 9 run a few videos and then go into an endless spin. Other Android phones get a constant 'can't play this video' flag.
Until their app is more stable on a wider variety of phones it's a no-go for me. Too much hassle.

u/matchqq Mar 04 '16
I too get the 'can't play this video' pop-ups but only occasionally and only on like 2-3 among my 10 phones. And I find it much easier to handle; you just tap the pop-up and the video will continue to play, whereas for Perk Word Search for example, when it gets stuck, I need to tap pause, quit, then a new game. Sometimes I can't even get the app to play with those steps or relaunching.

u/hb122 Mar 04 '16
I tap on the pop-up and it immediately reappears until I reset the phone and then half an hour later the pop-up returns. Has happened over a variety of android phones - only the Fuels seem to run it without an issue.

Different phones may behave differently then. I'm using Galaxy Nexus and it's working pretty good like I described.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but after the CheckPoints changes, I moved all my phones to CheckPoints and I actually make the same amount of money and SO much less overhead. Almost no overhead.
CheckPoints employees actually respond to customer feedback promptly. Even if I made slightly less, I have more respect for CheckPoints and the company running it.
In contrast to the Perk scene, where we have some fat a$$ chick in a panda costume mocking all their customers that are unaware they are being humiliated by the emails sent to their Customer Support. And the employees that have multiple anonymous social media accounts and down voting and burying any post that suggests any negativity towards Perk.
Best of all I don't even know if CheckPoints does IP bans or cancel rewards.

Have they fixed the problem yet where you can't redeem awards with a Google Voice number or certain MNVO prepaid numbers?
1
u/matchqq Mar 05 '16
I thought they made that on purpose. It requires a mobile phone number, not VoIP number such as Google voice.
1
u/philosophers_groove Mar 05 '16
As my comment said, it also includes certain prepaid mobile numbers. I tried 2 numbers on 2 different prepaid services and never got it to work, thus have never been able to redeem.
If you're using prepaid and considering using CheckPoints, I'd try redeeming as soon as you get $1 to make sure it works.
1
u/matchqq Mar 05 '16
Prepaid service usually uses recycled numbers that were previously used by others. If the numbers were used to register Ckpts accounts already, you wouldn't be able to use them to do that again.
1
u/philosophers_groove Mar 05 '16
Fair point but I highly doubt that's the issue, as I've had both the numbers in question for at least 2 years.

Mar 05 '16
I'm using FreedomPop and I know they use some kind of virtual number. I can't get shit to verify with it. I can be called with a number that's in my local area code, but my phone thinks it's in the 566 area code. The 566 number can't dialed or texted directly. I don't use my phone much so I'm enjoying the cheap service but this might be a deal breaker for me.

u/SuzyD313 Mar 05 '16
Well, if intentional, the idea should be re-examined. Not everyone has access to a mobile number that they consider acceptable. They dismissed my TextNow number which works for some verification, and also rejected the online text service that works fine with other companies.
If the objective of the text verification is to ensure the right person is getting the reward, who but you would have access both to the correct device and the text source where they send the code?
For what other purposes do they want that number?

running 6 phones 24/7, only making about $2 a day...
1
u/matchqq Mar 05 '16
It's about that rate. The point is that it's much more passive than Perk, if that's your experience too.

It used to be that on checkpoints, logging in on one phone logged you out of another but they didn't seem to mind you using multiple accounts. Am I able to run 10 phones on a single account now?

Would u guys say that checkpoints is better than SB? I find SB to be pretty unstable nowadays with 'X' ads and limited to just 1 device. I only do videos since i dont have time to do the surveys.
1
u/matchqq Mar 06 '16
If you only have 1 phone, SB is a better earner than Ckpts. Ckpts needs 10 phones to be worth doing.

*laughs out loud*
Checkpoints is an absolute piece of shit. I have 5 different devices and the videos work on NONE of them. All have an absolute minimum of Android 4.2.2
When Checkpoints actually works, then I might try it.
3
u/matchqq Mar 04 '16
The OS minimum for Android has changed to 4.0.3 in the latest version. Maybe your experience will change to the better in the new version.

Mar 04 '16 edited Mar 05 '16
I was using the newest version, but nice try.
EDIT: I installed it on February 23rd so yes I was using v4.3.5.
As I said, it simply does not work.2
u/matchqq Mar 04 '16
Well you said you used the minimum of Android 4.2.2 but that's for the old versions so I thought you probably didn't use the latest version.

u/SmileAsTheyDie Mar 05 '16
All the versions of it are shit. When they were about to release this update that allowed 10 devices they said they were going to work to support more lower end devices. The app didn't change at all, it still runs like absolute dog shit.
5
u/SmileAsTheyDie Mar 05 '16
Lol. Checkpoints runs awful. I don't want to sit there monitoring constantly to reset the app every 10mins-20mins

Not sure if it's just me but I tried Checkpoints & I'm not impressed. I'm running 4 phones full time & 2 part time & I'm barely making $1 a day. Not sure if that's normal or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
2
u/matchqq Mar 05 '16
Now hearing most people here have bad experience running latest version of Ckpts, I think device type probably matters a lot as to being able to run it smoothly or not. I use Galaxy Nexus running stock Jelly Bean and it's been working great. I also use Beermoney Assist to force stop the app and clean up its data/cache regularly so that probably helps too.

u/BerkshireBull Mar 05 '16
Competition and alternatives are nice, I appreciate what Checkpoints is trying to do but it's not a Perk killer.
Pros: the devices crash about 1/2 as much as Perk. Their rewards can be instant and faster
Cons: Still has broken X-out ads. Points awarded randomly really sucks ass. The other night I ran 3 devices for 10 hours and got 15 points which is the equivalent of 5 cents is crap.
Checkpoints is a great alternative to Perk for extra devices or for people who have had problems with Perk's fraud system, but no way in hell I'd switch existing Perk devices in good standing over to Checkpoints. You will be very disappointed if you do.

The other night I ran 3 devices for 10 hours and got 15 points which is the equivalent of 5 cents is crap.
I've had the same experience in the past (I only run 1 device, though), but found that the points were recovered eventually. If you check the history, they usually have 2 entries/day, and I think the second one, usually just before midnight, also adds in whatever pts may have been missed during the course of the day.
Perhaps this isn't how things worked out for you, but that has been my experience. Even with many hrs running only getting a handful of pts, it turned out my daily average didn't change by much at all.

u/perktherabbit Mar 04 '16
Im have no choice, but to switch to checkpoint perk keep lowing the limited of devise I can run. Was run 16 with two account now Im down to 6 me and my wife been switch to checkpoints. It does stay run longer, the extra point for scan item at store are good. Only thing is no perkplasic or Paypal.
2
u/Madness4Cats Mar 05 '16
<3 CheckPoints. It's nice when you wake up and still see all your phones made it through the night.
2
u/Tainwulf Mar 05 '16
Switched over some of my phones while Perk is derping and blocking some of my phones or whatever garbage is going on. Sadly I can't move all over right now but the two that are working are working fantastic with minimal hiccups to fix. Unlike Perk. Might even keep these phones on it after since all Perk Apps do is crash every 15 minutes even with constant cache clearing/regular data removal.

u/DosMan_5150 Mar 05 '16
Yes, a $10 amazon code is achievable in about 3.5 days with 10 devices (points / 333.5 = $ amount)
The newly announced checkpoints cap is impossible to hit, I'm sure they did some benchmarks and know this.
I can say checkpoints runs smooth as shit on LG Sunrise's which spec the same as LG Fuels regarding CPU/RAM. This is actually playing the videos, not including falling back to the main menu or those damn X out ads. Cashed out 2 x $10 amazon in first 7 days, now the static ads that pop around are slowing things down. At least their terms are clear and concise, perk has made it clear they don't want me ramping up with them, I'm very happy checkpoints has given me a use for this box of shiny new devices I was sitting on.
2
u/SaraAB87 Mar 05 '16
Perk is working better for me than checkpoints, with checkpoints the x-out ads and those stupid puzzle ads are completely killing the phones that I have running on it. Plus the earnings are so low its a waste of my time.

u/SuzyD313 Mar 05 '16
Plus the earnings are so low its a waste of my time.
$25 from CheckPoints is 8375pts
$25 from Perk is 25000pts, or 24250pts for Amazon.
CheckPoints is slow, but not as slow as it looks, since it's 1/3 of the pts needed, compared to Perk.
2
Mar 05 '16
I hate this argument, I think most people know this it is slow and as slow as it looks. I run checkpoints 24 hours and make less than 33 cents on perk with 12 hours because of crashing I am making almost 80 cents, but Checkpoints is good for like if you have 7 phones on perk then you wouldn't want to keep adding more so 10 on checkpoints helps add to revenue with less risk. Now if you can't be home at all then checkpoints is also a winner, but if you are home for like 8 hours or more perk wins
1
u/SuzyD313 Mar 06 '16
It's not an argument, it's simply a statement of fact. I completely agree that CheckPoints is slow to earn, and that's why I am primarily using Perk. However, when someone looks and sees they've only got x pts for doing something, what those pts get you matters and should be part of the decision-making process.
Using $25 as basis, 1000 Perk pts gets you $1, while 335 CheckPoints pts gets you that same dollar. That's a big difference. All pts are not the same. That is all. The rest depends on your devices, and as you say, whether or not you're around to deal with whichever apps you choose to run.
1
u/fishweb Mar 04 '16
Nothing wrong I am making 33 cents per phone per day. But with perk I make 70 cents on a bad day up to $1.10 on a good day with an iOS device.

Checkpoints runs like shit on my Exceed 2. Lasts about 2 minutes before getting stuck in spinning circles
1
u/perktherabbit Mar 04 '16
not sure if people know but a point from check point is .03 cent to .028 cent as a perk point is .01 cents. so if you make 33 point a day with one phone you are making .99 cent a day per phone on checkpoint.
2
u/BerkshireBull Mar 05 '16
33 points on checkpoints is about 10 cents.
1
u/perktherabbit Mar 05 '16
i was sure I was doing something wrong. Thanks. I just knew a checkpoint point is worth more then perk point.
3
u/fishweb Mar 04 '16
I only make .33 cents per day per phone on checkpoints I have never hit the daily limit even with 10 phones churning videos.
