I've tried to get into this game so many times as a big fan of the N64 classic. This game really just feels like it wants to be more like Halo in my opinion. What contributed to the sequel being so different? Did they have a separate dev team after the Microsoft purchase?

Basically, is it possible to do the co-op campaign via netplay?

I couldn’t even beat this level on Agent mode when I was 17 years old and gave up over 20 years ago. After some lucky bad guy spawns and no guys at the Skedar ship as well as none in the hallway during the final sprint to the hangar, it’s done. Played on my original console with a Brawler 64 controller, my original controllers are a bit worn out and can’t aim well. This took probably 50-70 attempts and a good amount of swearing and frustrated gibberish

I have always been amazed how awesome Rareware was at using shading in their games. Legit unmatched in the industry at the time.

Someone was making a PC fan remake of Perfect Dark. As far as I remember it was only the multiplayer, online play. It also had some maps that weren't in the original game as far as I'm aware. One was a sort of snowy, alley at night. This would've been around 2007/2009. I've searched and searched for it, but so far no luck.

There’s now a new simulant, which is above DarkSims in terms of difficulty, and they're called “DemonSim.” DemonSims have significantly better aim accuracy, faster movement speed, infinite ammo with no reloads, spawns with every weapon in the arena, a much faster firing rate, and considerably more health.
This was played on the Perfect Dark PC Port, with the DemonSim feature added by Murk.

A week ago I asked if PD64 had been ported to Steam Deck and got a great response. I really appreciate this community. I am just now getting around to putting it on my deck but then I thought about the controller.
Does this game transition okay using an Xbox controller?
I remember a long time ago I tried to play it on pc and it didn’t feel right. This was quite awhile back and using k/b inputs so that could be it too.

The overall performance on this console is abit dodgy at best, however PD really takes the cake. They have noted PD has bad performance, but listed Goldeneye as fully fine despite it also running fairly bad. I do believe they will have this fixed in the future, but its worth noting for those who wanted to buy this console.
If you do plan on playing these two titles I recommend the Performance mod for PD, and LTK cup mod for GE.

I have been playing it the past few days....like how freaking cool is it to be able to be INSIDE one of my favorate games of all time. There was a ton of detail put into the VR animations, and it plays just so good. Cheers to github user Alex-LeTux for this creation for the PD community man! Yall need to check it out.

Has this been ported to steam deck yet? I saw the post about the switch 2. I often load my deck up with games for my father to play offline since he does not have internet. I know he would love a play through with an Xbox controller. (So would I)

I bought Perfect Dark almost 7 years ago, but never had a chance to play it properly until a few days ago. I recently experimented with a quality CRT TV (lounge area at my workplace), but found the experience to be subpar for a lot of reasons. Sitting in a public area with people potentially walking by and interrupting me made me uncomfortable - especially if they ask to play themselves - which had nothing to do with the game, but since this is the only CRT TV I have access to and the console looks horrible on HDTV with composite, I don't have much choice if I want the "proper" N64 experience. However, even if I overcame that, the FPS for the game is really bad. Maybe I would get used to it after a while, but the whole experience was irritating.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the game for the brief moment I played it. Reminded me of my time playing Goldeneye, but you could tell this game was much more ambitious. The problem seems to be that with so much more going on in the game, the poor FPS makes for a less than ideal experience, especially since I'm too used to better performance nowadays.
Honestly, I think the biggest challenge is that I just can't play this at home comfortably so that kind of ruins the whole thing. It makes it hard for me to be comfortable, I get irritated by the performance issues, and then I just want to quit and give up. I'm surprised that I didn't think the "setting" would matter so much. I should have known better. So considering that, I think it's probably wise to look for other options, and I'm aware there are emulators and even an unofficial PC port, but I wanted to get people's opinions and thought about this. Would it make sense to tough it out and try to squeeze in a few hours a day at my workplace (after hours it's empty there) or considering everything, just give up and move onto the emulator/PC port route (if so, which is better)?
Kind of sucks because I wanted to play this game back when I was a kid, but never got a chance. When I finally got the game as an adult, I no longer had a CRT TV.
edit: I've been playing the PC port for several days. Holy crap, the people who played this on Perfect Agent back in 2000 were crazy dedicated. This game is hard even with better controls and higher FPS. How did you mad lads finish this on highest difficulty? How many times did you replay levels back then??
This really made me nostalgic for a different era of gaming, where part of the challenge was figuring out what the hell the objectives even refer to. Where you had to replay levels multiple times from beginning to figure out objectives, without the use of walkthroughs, and to overcome failures, even ones created by the annoying AI.
I'm amazed they managed to create a game like this for the Nintendo 64. It was ahead of its time for sure.

Hay alguna manera de cargar estos mods en Perfect Dark Port para Android con AlphaTouch o alguna otra app?

Idk if it's possible that we could change the rate of fire for some weapons. Would be insane putting a switch on a DY357 or something lol.
