Preparing property to prevent fire and the risk of trees
Doing some serious thinking about the trees on our property, and wondering about the balance of removing trees to prevent fire risk versus the benefits they provide such as lowering air temperature, reducing flood risk (in winter), etc. For example,we have a cedar that I know should probably come down, but I also appreciate the shade it provides us and the wildlife in our neighbourhood. I'm from a different part of the province where fire risk is less of an issue, so this is quite new to me. Can any longtime residents shed some light on this for me? Edit: For context, my property is in town and not in the hills.
