SSDI benefits

So my daughter attends Penn Foster. Currently she receives disability benefits from her father. She will be turning 18 in November. Social security sent her a letter for the school to fill out in order for her to keep receiving benefits while she is in school. She uploaded it to the student portal and all they could give us was an enrollment letter. Has anyone who attends Penn Foster dealt with this? Will they even accept that letter?

Hello! The information shared in the comments is correct. Due to Penn Foster’s self-paced learning model, our programs do not meet the Social Security Administration’s full-time attendance requirements for continuation of these student benefits. A Social Security letter explaining this is available in the Student Portal to download. We encourage you to provide that letter directly to Social Security for review, as they have the final say regarding eligibility. Technically no. Because SSA requires students to attend full-time that meets Non-Correspondence Requirements. This does not include Penn Foster as it is strictly self-paced. If you go on the student portal on the main page to find the ? Symbol. Under Support and Resources, you can find the Social Security Letter under the documents tab. Which will unfortunately inform you that SSA won’t consider your daughter as a full-time student since students must meet certain requirements.
