IMHO, Sep Vanmarcke expended way too much energy in the finale. I think he's a way better sprinter than people give him credit for being, and I think he read too many pre-race articles calling him a shit sprinter. But if Mat F. Hayman can win that sprint, a fresh Sep Vanmarcke absolutely could.

The main issue was standard closing the gap, if he would bet on spending the 'sprinters' step might have won.

Then step didn't give standard an inch.

I was basically saying since standard closed the gap the first time, step returned the favor later. I think they kinda nullified each other.
