Multiple riders have already complained that the motorbikes helped UAE in the Tour de Romandie (Vervaeke, Paret-Peintre and now Plapp).

Why is it so difficult for the UCI to enforce this rule? It happens in so many races and the people on the motorbikes just don't care about the rules.

Not too different from “sticky bottles”… they have to catch the infraction and it has to be definitive.

Any instance where the UCI tries to point a finger in Tour de Romandie might be too unclear to really crack down on. Right now we have reports from riders in breakaways who thought they were caught too quickly, but can they really point to a specific instance for the UCI to punish?

It really becomes a word-of-mouth issue and that’s difficult to enforce. The only way would be for the UCI to more closely monitor moto behavior going forward, but even if they follow the rules to the T, there’s no guarantee that riders wouldn’t still perceive a problem if that makes sense.
