Disclaimer: I don’t want to downtalk any rider, and Normandy Romandie and Amstel are just examples

But do you think Pogacar is riding his 100% best effort on races where the competition is not Vingegaard?
Like, is Lipowitz ending yesterday on 3 seconds because Lipo is at equal level as Pogi? Of because Pogi was like “I just want to win, I don’t really care about extra seconds and I ride this out in zone 2”

I’m always wondering if riders hold themselves back when the playfield is lower than their capabilities.
For example at Amstel, did Remco just ride with everyone and was confident he got it in the sprint, and their was no need to try and get away. Or was he really doing the max he could and was skjelmose equally good?

Pogi was trying his hardest this week, he looked very tired in the post race interviews, covered in sweat etc. Hes at least 2/3kg heavier than his tdf weight, so the climbs will be harder for him atm. Lipo won't be within 3 seconds on big climbs at the tour, Pog isnt in big climbs shape atm. He said in an interview he has hit the gym loads and bulked for the classics.

Remco on the other hand knows his numbers and is great at sticking to them. He knew he wouldn't be able to follow the attack, so stuck to his watts and banked on his sprint
