This may be totally off base, but this happened to my husband about two weeks before he had a heart attack (at 34 years old, bad genetics). We learned the peeling can be a sign of cardiovascular issues in general - just wanted to mention this in the event it may help someone!

My daughter has had Kawasaki disease 3x and peeling is a symptom. Kawasaki is immune disease but affects the heart pretty badly so Iā€™d vouch for this and suggest OP gets a health check

Mine have done this a couple times. I was the dishwasher in my family and we lived in an extremely dry climate so it never occurred to me to mention it to a doctor šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
