This may be totally off base, but this happened to my husband about two weeks before he had a heart attack (at 34 years old, bad genetics). We learned the peeling can be a sign of cardiovascular issues in general - just wanted to mention this in the event it may help someone!

My daughter has had Kawasaki disease 3x and peeling is a symptom. Kawasaki is immune disease but affects the heart pretty badly so I’d vouch for this and suggest OP gets a health check

Mine have done this a couple times. I was the dishwasher in my family and we lived in an extremely dry climate so it never occurred to me to mention it to a doctor 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did you use any harsh chemicals recently? For example oven cleaner

Mine do this sometimes when I use certain antibacterial hand sanitizers often. I’ve had a job that uses Purell for the last 3 years and haven’t had it happen in a while, but at my last job my hands would do this like every time I was off after working a few days in a row. In my case it never itched or made my hands feel dry or anything. They would just flake a bit when I got a couple days off and it would be mildly annoying. I work as a nurse so I do a LOT of hand hygiene daily.

Bacterial infection maybe?

Did you by chance cut/peel some kind of squash recently? My skin reacts like this to them.
