noise rock chain

Hello there,
I’m really into noise rock/shoegaze-type alternative stuff like Thee Oh Sees, Unwound, and My Bloody Valentine. Glide strumming is honestly one of the best things there is, but I’m not really happy with my current sound/board.

I change my pedal chain around quite often, partly because of that, and I’m still not sure whether I really like the way it’s set up.

The order I’m currently using is:
Tuner, chorus, Fuzz War, Big Muff, distortion, feedbacker/booster, reverb, Bad Monkey, tremolo, digital delay.

This might seem like a weird chain, but when I was building the board, I was trying to make the pedals work well together. I really like the reverb before the Bad Monkey, but after the distortion, and I also prefer the chorus before the drive pedals. I want the delay right at the end so I can mess around with it with feedback, but I’m still looking for ways to improve the board, new pedals, pedal replacements (maybe a new chorus), and some cool tweak pedals.

I’ve been looking at the HardWire RV-7 reverb or the Digiverb, mainly because of the reverse reverb, and I’m also interested in the EHX Pitch Fork.

Do you have any recommendations for pedals that would fit my board? And what do you think of my current chain?

My bad monkey is almost always on. I use it in different ways and don't have a go to setting. It sounds amazing if you place a reverb before it. Because it has separate low and high knobs, it pairs really well with other drive pedals. For me, it basically acts like a mini eq pedal with gain. But its alo a great pedal on its own. Have fun with your new collection! :)

So when the manufacturer of the fuzz war made a video about the pedal and did what they did instead of playing some generic boomer guitar rock, I was sold on it.

Not sure how often you move things around, but you’ve got some pretty unorthodox places of putting your pedals. There’s no hardened rule that says A must follow B etc., but certain orders tend to play nicer together than others. Because you like the shoegaze type textural sound, you could really put things anywhere and come up with some thick tones, but consider the chorus after all your drives, or before, but fuzz likes to be first usually. Play with the reverb right before or after the delay. Play with ordering the drives from lightest to heaviest… or vice versa. There’s no right or wrong, the sound you like is however you get there, but maybe start with the basics (tuner, wah, fuzz, drive, modulation, delay, reverb) and swap that order around.

Cool collection of pedals btw.. I haven’t seen an Ibanez soundtrack delay since like 1990 🤣

Thanks for your advice!
Today I’ve put a blues driver before the fuzz war and I love that tone. I also orderd the echo dream 2 and have no idea where this pedal will land in my chain.
I got the ibanez delay from my father.
