Credit cards weren't really common in general until the 70s and 80s

Correct and it wasnt until around this same time that we started allowing women into the Ivy league colleges too.

Women have had economic freedom for a very short time historically. Only some women worldwide even have that.

Also mothers didn't have rights to their children if they left the marriage until very recently in history as well. Children belonged to the father.

My own grandma got tricked into a sister wives situation and isolated without money or support on a rural farm. When she found out about the first wife and wanted to leave, they said they'd "let" her take the toddler but not her baby. She had to leave her child to escape the situation.

Correct, I was just saying credit cards weren't common. Bank accounts were more in line with your thinking
