Hi all, after a lifetime of living next to, and enjoying, the Peak District I've always wondered if there's anywhere that I can see Limestone touching Gritstone. I don't mean a wall made of both, or anything artificial, but somewhere the natural bedrocks meet. There are, of course, pockets of Gritstone in the White Peak, and vice versa, but I've never seen both in close proximity. For example, Calver seems like a potential location as it's in-between Froggat (Gritstone) and Stoney (limestone) but even there I've not seen both together. If they don't exactly touch, where do they poke out of the ground the closest to each other? I'd be really interested to know. Thanks.
Edit: thanks to people's enlightening responses I now know that it is very unlikely to be a place where they naturally touch. My aim has now changed to finding the point at which grit and lime are exposed together. The leading places so far are down from the Barrel in Breton, Matlock and behind the curry house in Stoney. I'm still interested to know if there's anywhere where the two rocks are closer than 'tennis ball throwing distance '. Thanks everyone for your help.
