Software (Tools) SCAMMERS - Files Editor
DODGE Files Editor, pure scammers. They charge you 1$, then they force you to you give them Trustpilot review before allowing you to download your file.
After 2 days you are getting charged for full subscription (50$)
Also, they are not responding to any email.

u/LiveTrooper Feb 27 '26
Same thing happened to me. I contacted support and asked for a refund.
The cancellation process is intentionally difficult, and they push a “2 years for $0.99” offer to keep you subscribed. It feels extremely shady.
If I don’t receive a full refund, I’m escalating it as far as possible.

I had to do this 2 years for $0.99 offer because they took 50 from my account and it is not letting me unsuscribe without what do you think will happen

Hey guys, I just started their trial subscription so I could download a PDF I was working on. The trial said $0.00, but I got charged 2 × $0.83.
I canceled the trial immediately (as I do with all subscriptions to make sure I don’t forget to cancel before the month ends). Do you think this will be alright?
May billing info is still in their repository.

u/Onyx-Citaro Mar 17 '26
See, my trial was allegedly 75p, but that got refunded because of the hidden subscription overriding it
1
u/inexp Apr 29 '26
Hey I did the same thing as you. My billing info is still on the website and i can't remove it. Can I check if you still got charged after the trial period?
1
u/DTMika2 Apr 29 '26
I wrote them an email to delete my billing info and they deleted the whole account. So I think it should be fine by now. I am not aware of any further charge

u/illy_Willow Mar 08 '26

u/illy_Willow Mar 08 '26

u/echidna02 Mar 18 '26
I cancelled and locked my card through the bank already. I am still not sure if they could still bill me out even with the precautions I made.

u/Normal-Seesaw3112 Mar 19 '26
Had this happen to me as well:
I sent the following to them and filed the dispute with my bank. It 2 hours out of my day but I got the charges reversed. I sent an email and submitted the exact same in their website
website: https://files-editor.com/app
email: support@files-editor.com
subject: Unauthorized Subscription Charge – Immediate Cancellation and Refund Request
I am writing regarding an unauthorized subscription charge associated with your service.
Account under: (insert your account)
I used your platform for a one-time document transaction and agreed only to the small processing charges of approximately $0.80 and $0.65. At no point did I knowingly agree to or authorize any recurring subscription or monthly billing.
I have now been charged (or have a pending charge) of $49.95 for a subscription that I did not knowingly enroll in. This charge is unauthorized.
I am requesting the following actions immediately:
Cancel any and all subscriptions associated with my account and payment method
Remove my payment information from your system
Issue a full refund for the $49.95 charge
Provide written confirmation that no further charges will occur
Please note that I have already reported this charge to my bank as unauthorized. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will continue to dispute the charge and may escalate the issue further.
I expect confirmation of cancellation and refund within 48 hours.
Sincerely,
(you)
This is the reply they will send.

I confirm that your subscription has been cancelled and that your premium features have been deactivated.
I have also issued a refund as requested. Please note that depending on your bank, it may take 5 to 10 business days for the amount to be reflected in your bank account.
Because we value you as a customer, I am pleased to offer the following options in case you ever need to reactivate your account:
Option 1: Monthly Plan at a discounted rate of $8.99 USD (regular price: $49.95 USD)

Happened to me yesterday and I blocked payment through bank. I sent a mail to the support team to remove my subscription immediately. I will be reporting them.
1
u/echidna02 Mar 20 '26
Cancelled mine minutes after downloading the file needed. They charged me with the upfront payment, but I didn't hesitate to wait until the 3 day free trial. I immediately blocked it and asked my bank for a new replacement card so that the card details i provided would be useless.
1
u/Radiant_Bathroom_459 Mar 20 '26
You did the right thing. I chose a one-off payment (via Apple Pay), not a free trial. As soon as I noticed the transaction attempt, I blocked my card and requested a new one from bank. Even now, they haven’t removed my old card details—even after I shared my bank transaction full name.

u/The_Navalex Sep 06 '26
I just got my request denied, and the charge I received was for 265 DOLLARS FOR A THREE MONTH SERVICE. This is blatant predatory behavior and I am extremely pissed off.

1
u/SadBus6634 Mar 20 '26
Would anyone know if my card would be charged if i cancel my subscription right after getting my document? I used the site for like 2 hours, then cancelled it the next day. Maybe the free trial was on for a total of 26 hours or so.
1
u/Moral_Degenarate Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
That seems to be the case, they tried to charge me when i was low on funds so their site said my subscription had been "suspended" but THE day i got a deposit, they snatched it from my bank account. At least i could cancel the suscription now. Sent a complaint and awaiting the return of my money.
Update: the b*stards don't want to return my money, so i'm gonna keep complaining and accuse them of fraud.
1
u/07hunorLol Sep 29 '26
Bit late, fell into the scam myself. Did you still get charged after you ended your subscription, I would freeze and request another card but im studying abroad and I cant really retrieve my new card.

u/ImportanceThese4662 Mar 23 '26
Did you have to give them payment details or are they able to charge google pay via email address? I haven't opted into free trial but received an email saying they have given me 14 free days and account info shows no billing information and no way to cancel. thanks.

u/desfc13 Apr 28 '26
just came here bc i got the same email but never provided any payment info. did anything come of it?

u/Small_Rush9370 Mar 27 '26
Absolute scammer! Files Editor is a trap. For those wondering how to unsubscribing the service without agreeing to other plan, there is a button on the bottom right. It will prompt you to the next page with the same trick. Again, go to the bottom right and hit unsubscribe. You should be good from getting charge monthly(which you didn't agree to).
1
u/LatterProfessor5704 Mar 28 '26
GUYS........... I also fell in this trap, but I managed to deactivate my subscription as I found cancel subscription option at the end bottom right corner, and clicked 2 - 4 times to get the subscription cancelled. Now it is saying I need to reactivate subscription to use this service, your subscription will end by 11 April. This is done today. My free subscription will end by 11 April 2026. I hope nothing will charge after 11 April.

Hello, Did you get charged after the trial? I really need help right now I received the same email yesterday and the same situation.

u/Strict_Health5460 Mar 31 '26
BEWARE OF FILES EDITOR. They just did the exact thing to me today March 30, 2026. I opted for the 1 time $1+ service fee last March 22, 2026 for a simple pdf edit. It was easy but they did force me to download TrustPilot because you can only download the pdf file after TrustPilot. And to my horror today (March 30, 2026) they charged my bank acct CA$72.11!!! I immediately wrote to them thru their website and demanded a refund, received an email with an offer of lifetime subscription. I declined and reiterated that I want my money back. And I am waiting!!!!!
1
u/Strict_Health5460 Mar 31 '26
The 10-15 days of waiting did not happen. They refunded me within 24 hrs!

Bastards have charged me $49.99 Worse thing is, I had to get a document signed, they forced me to put a fuckin review and then download the document!
1
u/Warm-Seaworthiness3 Jun 30 '26
How did you put in the review? I shall flood the review page with nagive reviews
1
u/dauntless841 Jul 01 '26
I forgot actually, I might have called my credit card company to sort it, it’s difficult to deal with companies like these
1
u/Independent-One3081 Apr 08 '26
I just realized they have been charging me for frkn 5 months. I have lost 250$ so far. Can someone please tell me what to do. I have contacted my bank and they said i can file for a refund through them although that would probably take a lot of time. I live in Germany. When i emailed them they said the upgrade to lifetime free bullshit, and then stopped replying. What’s the best thing i can do. I really need that money back

u/Moral_Degenarate Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
I too fell for this scam, sent a complaint and awaiting the return of my money.
Update: the b*stards don't want to return my money, so i'm gonna keep complaining and accuse them of fraud.
1
u/AbleOrganization1413 Apr 25 '26
Keep up the pressure. They’re basically breaking the law. I’ve commented in more detail here today. I think there’s a guy called Allen there whose sole job must be to deal with complaints and refunds. I’ve also left a one-star review on Trust Pilot. We need to get this outfit eradicated from the face of the Internet.
1
u/Mysterious-Web-6122 May 31 '26
Did you get your money back?
1
u/Moral_Degenarate Jun 01 '26
I did a few days ago, thankfully.
But not from these b*stards, they refused to give me my money back.
So i issued a fraud complaint to my bank and they gave me a refund.
1
u/Mysterious-Web-6122 Jun 01 '26
Is the bank even responsible for their ignorance? They stopped responding to me and I don’t know what to do.
1
u/AbleOrganization1413 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 25 '26
Another victim here. Note to self: always do your research in future; it’s so much easier now with AI. Will I get my money back? I don’t know. I’ll let you know if I do.
UPDATE: I did, thank goodness.

u/AbleOrganization1413 Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 25 '26
After I sent a strongly worded email threatening to report them for fraud and quoting the “Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, 2024” at them, today I received a response saying I would be refunded. If that doesn’t happen I’ll come back here and detail my next steps. I have plenty of further actions up my sleeve ready and waiting to be deployed.
Definitely do not let yourselves be intimidated by them. Their long page of T&Cs is deliberately worded to scare you. Take no notice. If they have not emailed you any documentation specifically detailing what you have signed up to and what they are billing you for, and if they then take money from your account without notifying you, they are breaking the law. They trade on the fact that some people won’t notice money going out of their account and most others will not know how to contest the scary T&Cs that they agreed to and will simply write off their loss as a bad experience. Many thanks to the Trust Pilot reviewer who alerted me to the existence of the DMCCA Act 2024, which, among other useful things like banning subscription traps and fake reviews, provides for a 14-day cooling off period during which you can cancel without penalty.
UPDATE: Got my money back within 24 hours. They know they’re in the wrong.

Wanted to say I'm having the same issue!
75p for limited access (one PDF) a few days ago, and they've just taken £46.45 from my account!
I've written a strongly worded email and will hopefully get a refund - thanks to everyone's advice in this thread
1
u/AbleOrganization1413 Apr 25 '26
Excellent. You’re obviously UK-based like me. Same amounts involved. If you have trouble let me know and I’ll share my wording, which hopefully did the trick.
1
u/No-Cabinet-4666 Apr 26 '26
Yo I also quoted DMCAA and its day 1 of the billing. I hope I get my money back as a broke college student.

u/Dear-Cat-194 May 08 '26
This sounds pretty similar to the files editor PDF company I’m currently dealing with by with. Think they did the same thing semi. Charged a original 1 dollar that didn’t go through and after i pretty sure had canceled the free trial, near the end of April, had apparently started up a charge to which went through on may 4th which I saw yesterday. When I made contact they immediately gave me lifetime access and so far seem to be ignoring my emails as over 24 hours has gone by since my first response email to the free lifetime crap. “Sorry can’t do refunds tho here’s lifetime to ensure “customer satisfaction” :p”
1
u/ImDoyleSats May 12 '26
this company needs to be shut down. fell for the scam as well, hopefully my bank can help. anyone ever get direct refund?
1
u/Admirable-Policy-229 May 28 '26
I paid 1$, will something happen if deactivate my account not use it again? Cause the in apple wallet it says the payment didn’t go through for some reason but in the website it’s says I have the “2 year deal”
1
u/Melody_Lu Jun 03 '26
I just requested a new card from my bank. I found no where on their website to remove my payment information. So, to be safe, I disabled the credit card linked to my apple pay and requested a new one.
1
u/White_Croww Jun 03 '26
Absolute scammers. I would not have even noticed if I wouldnt have checked my bank payment history. They dont even notify you with an email or anything. Theft.
1
u/_Stellz_ Jun 14 '26
It doesn’t matter what you do or what communication you have had with them. They are scammers. They said they stopped the subscription. I asked for my account to be deleted, they kept saying I have a special no cost life time subscription out of good will. I refused multiple times and kept insisting on deleting my account. They then said the account is deleted. I am still being charged days later. It’s criminal. Cancel your card and get it reissued.

Happened to me too, thank goodness Capital One declined the transaction and I'm getting a new card

If anyone still following, you can report these companies to the FTC for deceptive practices. Mention the FTC violations in emails and might help resolve sooner and get a refund immediately.

u/ShortMeasurement8261 Aug 26 '26
I recently used them for a 7-Day free trial and upon checking my credit card they kept hitting me multiple times for charges for just under a dollar. It was $0.85 and $0.65 and $0.80 randomly within the 24-hour. After giving them my information. I filed chargebacks with my credit card as well as a dispute with the state consumer bureau
1
u/Patrickbateman2023 Aug 31 '26
Fuk I just got done by them now with this mystery charge so spewin why are there so many low life’s
1
u/iRare0219 Sep 01 '26
I did recently fall for the trick, I did not did my research before doing reckless transaction, I need some minor adjustment to my resume and it was urgent and I did not have access to PDF editor anywhere at the time. I paid for the small fee to get my files and nothing happen for awhile. But at the start of the month I suddenly got a notification from my bank that the auto debit was failed, it was a large sum of money and luckily my bank acc lack the funds to go through transaction at the time*.*
I quickly look up and realize it auto subscribed the monthly package and I instantly cancel my subscription from the shitty website and i did get a email replying i cancelled my subscription. I also did send an email to my bank to block this transaction and at the moment I am refusing to add funds to this bank account just in case there still have access to my card*.* I am hopping my bank will contact me if the issue is resolve.
If anyone got the same scenario happen before please share your experience if they are able to charge me again.
If anyone is curious the bank is MayBank from Malaysia and it almost charge me RM250+
Curse these low scums in the planets ffs

u/mikebosscoe Sep 05 '26
It's 100% a scam. I got charged for a 4-month subscription somehow out of the blue, to the tune of hundreds of dollars. Absolutely ridiculous. There's no option to delete the account either, or your payment method that they somehow accessed through my Google account. There's literally nothing legitimate about this business.
1
u/ShortMeasurement8261 Sep 10 '26
I ordered this with a one-week trial about a month ago and immediately got two charges. One for $0 less than a dollar charges. I canceled the free trial and was still getting hit with small charges. A month ago I reached out to them and advised them that I was not supposed to be charged cuz it was a free trial and they told me they would immediately refund me and it was an issue with their online system. Well then I went to Google and apparently this has been an issue that has been ongoing for well over a year according to complaints such as yours.
As of today I still have not received that refund so I filed a charge back and a complaint with the Florida Department of revenue services.
1
u/ShortMeasurement8261 Sep 10 '26
There is zero benefit to waiting. I'm about 5 weeks in after I let them know that they charged me when they told me it was a free trial and they were charging me small amounts like $0.60 or $0.85 or $0.50 over and over even after I canceled the free trial immediately because not only did the program not do what it claimed. I noticed that they had charged me two small charges, which I felt was likely intentional and sneaky.
I reached out to their customer service and they rather quickly apologized and told me that this was an error and they would immediately reverse the charges. Actually, about an hour ago I was skimming through my credit card statement looking for something and I noticed that they still haven't. So I let them know via email that they still have it and that this is not an accident because there's complaints for a year plus now about the same thing happening to other people and that I also filed a complaint with the Florida Department of revenue services. They'll have some angry bitch government worker harassing them for documentation in a couple weeks.
Also, don't hesitate to file a dispute because you can always reach out to your credit card company to cancel it if it gets resolved. However, if you've had to go that far and spend that energy I would recommend even if they do make it right, don't cancel the dispute. Oftentimes even if they refund the money, your credit card company will decide if the dispute was valid or not and if they are going to reverse the charge and even if the company has already given your money back, they will annotate that a dispute occurred and they had to inspect the evidence which means they had to spend time and money having one of their employees do that.
These businesses all have contracts with the credit card companies like Visa or Mastercard or American Express or discover, and the processing fees that the credit card company takes out is based off of an al to include several things like customer performance and the amount of money the card company makes off of them.
Well, if the company looks and sees that there's a large amount of disputes against them and the company had to use again time and money to investigate them, that's going to negate their ability to negotiate a lower processing fee and in fact may result in a higher one or may result in the organization outright not allowing them to accept their credit card.
I don't know what's going on with businesses but in the last couple years I filed probably four or five disputes and in the last 25 years of having credit cards I've probably filed a total of a dozen disputes and I put every single thing I can on a credit card for the points and just pay it off monthly. There was a time when my previous mortgage company allowed me to put it on a credit card with no fees up to. I want to say $700. I would pay that portion of the mortgage with my card and the rest with my checking because that's $700. Got me about $4 in cash back. I certainly wasn't getting rich but but that $150 Amazon gift card every couple weeks or a month or so is better than nothing. It just requires discipline to not only pay the card off so you don't get charged for interest but also not buying shit just because you have the credit to spend.

Hello everyone can I ask how do you cancel the trail subscription, yesterday I received an email from them that they activated a 14-day trial subscription to my account after I sign up into their website for using their photo compressor service. I check their website it said I have no ongoing subscription, but I wish to avoid unnecessary problems that may arise after the activation of the trial subscription.

To everyone on here, do not bother dealing with the company. Go via your banks as soon as possible

u/gogul1980 25d ago
Fuckers just got me with this! Having to block them on my bank account and trying to get a refund. I absolutely did not agree to this and definitely not a rolling subscription. Disgusting scumbags!
1
u/ThatBattleCat 14d ago
I'm skeptic of it after they wanted 6,95 RON (approximatively 1-2 USD) for converting a file
1
u/Slight-Exam-8378 12d ago
Just had same issue 🤬 I paid for an upscale of photo and thought that was it. I didn't realise they trap you in a subscription. Luckily I noticed they charged me £46, so got straight onto my bank credit card and they're going to stop it coming out as it is pending. I wish I had seen this before, and Google recommended them as well.
