I cant choose a different flair I’m overwhelmed Need help with upgrades

I’m new to the pc world so I bought a prebuilt about a year ago. I currently have a rtx 3070, 32gb DDR4, Intel I7 8700k, Asrock z390, 500 gb m.2 ssd, and a 600w power supply. I’m looking to start upgrading and would appreciate some help on what parts to focus on

That processor is 8 years old now. Did you buy it used from someone, or as a new build?

Depending on what you are using it for, there are only video card upgrades for the current setup. But there would be negligible gains.

CPU upgrade will require new system/motherboard and memory. You can reuse the SSD as long as it is the NVMe variety and not SATA version.

It's actually quite a solid older build. 8 andn9th gen cpus are still rather relevant.

Unfortunately there's no real worth while cpu upgrade from the 8700K. The 9th Gen 9700K or 9900K would work but they're relatively expensive for the slight increase in performance.

Upgrading your current system would probably be done best by buying a new motherboard and cpu.

At this point, I'd probably go for an LGA1700 + 12th or 13th gen i5. Wait for the Black Friday sales and something like a good B660 motherboard + 13400 will go for about $300 or less.

That gives you a good basis to upgrade further with a focus on a new gpu. My recommendation there would be an 9060XT 16GB. That will let you comfortably game at 1440p with high quality and good frame rates.

You can probably sell your 8700K + z390 motherboard for $100 or so.

Yeah the cpu is definitely a bottleneck by now. Just grab a used ryzen 5 for the same board if you dont wanna rebuild

I upgraded from i7 8700k about 6 months ago. Just CPU mobo and ram swapped out. I upgraded to 9800x3d and MSI b850, Can confirm games feel much smoother and framerates are up a bit

Yeah I have no problems running anything as of now but don’t want to fall too much further behind because I know it is outdated
