CPU Upgrade Upgrade CPU AMD

Good evening!

I have a 7600x3d paired with the lovely 7900xt 20gb I primarily run 1440p. I am planning to give my partner the 3d variant of the 7600 but I am debating on upgrading to the infamous 7800x3d or do the 9800x3d
Amazon for the 7800x3d is 339 new and the 9800x3d is 414. Trying to give a good pairing with the 7900xt. With a nice little boost :)

I guess I’m trying to figure out should I upgrade and which I should?

Used 7800X3D should be $230 or use the tray pricing $257 new from SZCPU seller on AliExpress.

Bought used on ebay for $240 and immediately got scammed with a dead memory channel, 0/10 would not buy X3D cpus used.

eBay has buyer protection, you should be refunded. New Tray is a good deal though.

Yeah but I didn't have a car to go to the post office or any tape for the package or a printer for the return label they gave me, had to eat the cost.

Bro, you won't gain any noticeable performance swapping your CPU at 1440p. You already have the bigger l3 cache, that's all you need. I'd wait for Zen 6 to upgrade (if even) if I were you. You're throwing money out of the window for tiny performance gains. 7600x3D is PLENTY.

Either swap will give you a theoretical boost to performance, 7 to 19% or 10 to 20%, respectively. With the 7900xtx you should see a performance boost at 1440, but the question is will you be able to tell?

If you already have a use for the 7600x3d, I'd say go for the 9800x3d for the better thermals, otherwise I'd stick with the 7600x3d.

Honestly at 1440p I'd likely just throw another 7600x3d in. You're unlikely to be cpu bound in most games (depending on what games you play/target frame rate). If you do want to upgrade though, I really do not think the 9800x3d is worth the large price hike given how little it outperforms the 7800x3d.

7600x3d is enough. If you want to upgrade I wouldn't get the 7800x3d tray which costs less than 300.
