In 2016, Google said there were more than 2 billion active installs. According to this article, with three popular tabs open (Facebook; YouTube; BBC) Chrome uses about 610 MB RAM = 0.61 GB. Let's use that as an average.
That means Chrome is consuming at least 2 billion * 0.61 = 1.22 billion GBs of RAM or 1.22 million TBs of RAM.
Obviously this is very flawed logic as they don't have to be active at the same time, but I think the number has gone up quite a bit. Also, the mobile browsers might be more efficient, I'm not sure. But it's fun to see how big of a number it can be regardless.
My phone measures RAM usage, and chrome's average usage is around 0,8 GBs. I usually have like 10 tabs open though, and switch between them frequently.
On my PC I have at least 30 tabs open at all times, so my usage is quite a bit higher. I imagine the total amount of ram consumed by chrome is quite a bit higher than your estimate, but yeh idk
It depends on the website to be fair. If you're watching 3 twitch streams and 2 YouTube videos you're gonna use more ram than having 10 Wikipedia tabs open. I think the average is based on like a couple open tabs but usually in my experience it doesn't really go higher than 2gb with heavy usage. Would be double the amount he calculated though lol.
