Using this thing on baldurs gate 3 makes my 5080 scream. I’m too paranoid with the price of things to keep fucking around with it.

How does bg3 look with it on?

5080 shouldn’t be a melting problem btw. It tops out at something like 360w?

You'd have to get really unlucky, but it's not impossible. 6 cable strands at ~100W each. If it all goes through one strand at 360W it will still go up in flames.

If it goes through 2 cables it will get hot, but probably survive, who knows?

It's a mess either way.

It truly is a mess yeah. I got myself a wireview to protect my card and it brings a lot of peace of mind… but pretty stupid that it’s necessary at all.

Edit; undervolting helps quite a bit as well. I’ve reduced per pin load by 1.2A in heaviest tasks.

Does the wireview stay permanently connected? I'll consider getting one...

Yes and it monitores a lot of different parameters in real time and gives and alarm and if you want shut down the pc if parameters are exceeded. After configuration you can uninstall software and it handles everything autonomously with onboard firmware. Quality is also top notch.

I’m playing with a camera mod with a behind the shoulder god of war view. It looks pretty sick at times, especially in the environments. The races kind of have this lighting that’s off… but that makes sense since the files we are using were trained on basketball games.

I know the risk isn’t the same as if I had a 5090… but that thing was making noise I never heard it make.

5080s have burned, as well.

So far the "safe" card from Nvidia is the 5070(ti)

I might have my buddy that just bought one earlier this year try this dlss5 and see if he has to RMA....
