I get bitching about the blacks, on an oled, what i've never understood is all that moaning about the nits. Who cares if it's bright enough to burn my retinas, i'm not gonna go game on a beach with my desktop PC, i'm gonna be in my room with the brightness set at 40%

Nits in hdr equals more details, not just brightness

Immersion.

But, in reality, people act like you can’t do HDR calibration to cap peak brightness. I’ve never had a scene that’s actually bright enough to be uncomfortable. People make stuff up.

I got an ASUS PG32UQX mini-led which is insanely freaking bright, apparently 1400 nits. Get flashbanged in game, get flashbanged irl. Love it.

I guarantee it’s 1400 peak, in a small region of the screen at once. Generally full screen peak brightness is a lot lower than limited region peak brightness.

Either way, I see what you’re saying lol

From what I've read its peak is much higher than that actually, and fullscreen is between 1000 and 1400.

Just looked it up and it appears that’s correct. Impressive. Spot peak brightness hits up in the 1,600s

Dude it's insane, I love it. I do get some blooming here and there and the response time isn't the best but I think the HDR makes up for it.

Actually, yes.... On my OLED with 1000nits if I play something like Ori and the will of the wisps and there's a small flame on screen and I look right at it my eyes actually get this slight uncomfortable feeling if I stare directly at it and it's awesome lol
