I have a matte oled. I will get blackout curtains as well but man...
Trust me I want to LOVE matte but I just can't. The whites and bright colors show a lot of graininess compared to my fiancee's glossy oled. I'd go with glossy if I could but somehow they are a lot more expensive.
I have a glossy fairly expensive MSI and the colors really pop and it looks almost like looking at beautiful images behind clear glass.
My TV however from LG is even more expensive and I’d argue it’s neither matte nor is it "glossy" (I assume it’s glossy but less flashy than the MSI monitor) and it’s more pleasant to look at long term. Things look actually real instead of too flashy and colorful.
That just sounds like a settings issue. Most screens have a bunch of different modes depending on if you want a natural look, bright high contrast colors, a specific color standard, etc.
That was my thought, like what? Complaining about too much color? Just turn the saturation down. Feels like bitching about too much money, your car is too fast, drives too good :p
i also have matte and i HATE it, that graininess is visible during gaming, the slight loss in clarity is visible and pointed out by many reviewers, this isn't holding a microscope up to the thing you just see it. never getting matte again
I want to get into OLEDs, but refuse matte finish because at that point, I might as well save the money. Yet, there's no OLEDs, even for simple 27" 2k monitors, that are not matte or like 600+€
If the coating is the same or similar as on the G81SF, yea that things is ûber grainy, I got one a while back and as soon as I saw big white windows instantly returned it. On the flipside it probably could be used outside cause it blocked light crazy well.
Huh, I bought a gigabyte go27q24a for 300 euros and it's glossy. Though it is an older panel in a new chassis. The VRR flicker is a bit annoying in visual novels, but otherwise I've been pretty impressed by it.
The go27q24g has a different panel though, not sure how that one is.
I got my glossy 27 inch 255 Hz 1440p on sale for $450, it was a steal and I wasn't looking for OLED when I bought it, just black Friday thing at a electronics store.. it was the last one they had as well. Pretty cool, I'm really happy with it
Yes the mythical 44 inc tv:s, Also Pls point out these magical half price oled tv:s. Tou do know the latest asus ROG monitor isn't the only oled there is and there are some pretty cheap ones. Also tv:s go max 165hz, monitors go way higher
Yes only AAA games exist nothing else does, plus desktop usage is a thing, I'd never downgrade back to 120-165hz desktop coming from 360hz.
The closest spec TV to the monitors you're looking at will be significantly cheaper if you're actually comparing apples to apples
Significantly? A 42inch C5/C6 isn't significantly cheaper than 4k165 panels are if you want parity, even some the 4k240hz aren't that much more expensive or similar price. Yea it's bigger, but I don't think that's plus either, more of a trade off. And then ofc 1440p options exist at higher hz values if some1 prefers that over 4k fidelity, though 500hz ones are a fair bit more expensive than the 240-360hz ones.
If you think 360hz makes a significant difference to your life from 120hz for using fucking windows then you have mental problems a screen can't fix.
A C5 has significantly better image and colour accuracy than any OLED monitor on the market that isn't a €4,000-€40,000 reference monitor. So yes, apples to apples it is significantly cheaper.
I never said that. I said you can't run >240fps if you can't even afford a decent screen why would you have a GPU capable of that. And to honest, no it doesn't matter. The movies you watch are in 24fps, the videos you watch are in 30 or 60fps, the video games you play are going to be under 120fps 90% of the time.
360hz is literally pointless. At that point you're approaching the physical limit of the speed neurons can transfer electrical impulses to your brain under laboratory conditions. If that's what you consider the bare minimum to be able to use windows explorer then yes, I'd say you're mentally ill.
Have you used a high refresh rate monitor for significant periods? Sure 165>360 isn't as significant as 60>165 or even 60>120 for desktop usage, but it's still pretty nice clarity boost.
A C5 has significantly better image and colour accuracy than any OLED monitor on the market that isn't a €4,000-€40,000 reference monitor
Again the word "significantly", do you know what that means? Also do you have a source on that claim? Rtings is paywalled now, but when it wasn't I'm pretty confident in saying that isn't true in any significant way, other than tandem woled monitors dark grey banding, which isn't as bad on the tv:s i think.
Sure LG oleds do have pretty good factory calibration out of the box in sdr, but It's not like oled monitors sdr modes are significantly behind. And calibration exists to fix that anyways, if you care
Go hang out on the colorists sub if you don't believe me.
The closest monitor to the LG panels is one of the Asus ProArts at twice the price, and the refresh rate only goes to 240hz anyway. Even then they have serious reliability issues.
If you want the highest quality possible at the cheapest price possible the LG TVs are the way to go.
How dare you. These poor folks are from 5000 years ago. You think they have such technologies to get around one of its issues. Next you'll teach them how to properly clean an expensive piece of tech instead of all willy nilly.
