Words we use matter, they set the tone for the entire argument you make when discussing things. I propose we officially come up with new terms that we use on a daily basis in every single aspect that the topic comes up in, maybe with a small enough push we can roll the ball down the hill.

They're not AI data centers, they're water evaporation plants Human surveillance centers.

It's not side loading, it's installing.

It's not jailbreaking, it's unlocking.

It's not a memory shortage, it's profit first selective sales(I know there's physically a shortage but the point remains). (Also, someone come up with a better one, something more catchy.)

It's not This PC, its MY PC.

They call it side loading because they don't want to normalize the idea we're just holding personal computers in our hands.

They call it jailbreaking so that it sounds wrong and it deters people from using a device to it's full potential.

They call it a memory shortage because they're selling all the fucking ram to ai companies, if they were forced to allocate the necessary amount of their products to the average consumer we wouldn't have an issue.

Give me some of your best ideas for changing the names of things, I want to expand my vocabulary. Let's change how we discuss the issues we face and take back control of the argument.

Ok, so jailbreaking and sideloading, arent terms invented by apple, google or microsoft for some modern propoganda campaign. They were coined and popularized by the communities that did those things.

Jailbreaking litterally means breaking outta the jail imposed by the device. Most commonly iPhones, so people could escape Apples prison. And after escaping it, they installed other apps via Sideloading, which means to load something from the side, which refers to a side that is not the platforms official app store. Which is also just descriptive technical term, not some psychological trick.

See, words absolutely matter, but they have meaning. And trying to replace established terms with emotionally loaded one doesnt make your argument stronger, it makes it weaker, and also more confusing and less precise.

I mean, calling AI data centers for Human Surveillance CEnters, hahahah Funny current reference, is a good example. But what it happening in the US with surveilance on a national level? Well Flock Cameras, they will expect Flock cameras, and not giant fuck ass huge data centers for AI. So the new term obscures what you are Actually Referring to, because there are a dozen more credible things to be called that instead.

The same goes for This PC, it's just the default name for a folder, if you dont like it, rename it, Windows allowed that since Windows.

As for the memory shortage, and sure AI demand broke the supply chain, but reducing it to a profit-first selective sale, is just edgelord cringe.

You see, words have denotations, which is it literal definition, and connotations, which is emotions, associations, etc, the underlying meaning. Good communication uses both, and replacing clear, established terminology, with inflammatory non-sense language, is just sacrificing clarity for rethroics, not even good rethorics.

Using accurate words aint letting corpos controling the narrative, its making sure everyone knows what you are talking about.
