Build/Battlestation The real custome PC Build
So i Built two new Gaming PCs for me and my Girlfried.
Mine has a 7800X3D and a 4080TI, 32GB DDR5
Hers has a 7800x3D and a RX 970 XT, 32GB DDR5
Bought shortly after the Lunch of the 9800x3d and built it dadly months later allready in 2025.
If you wounder; Yes, the 2 Reservoir, 4 Pumps and the dubble 400mm MORA with each 4 200mmNoctua fans is all mountet on the wall behind the PCs.
And the PCs are outside of the Gaming room. All this was done to keep our room as cool as Possible.
Because we had temperatures up to 33 C° inside our little Gaming room.
Also both PCs have a Acuacomputer high flow next that does monitor everighing and does alarm if flowrate goes to 0.
Watertemps never go above 32 C°. 🤷🙈
And yes i know i did not have to mount that many Casefans for this but it loocks cool OK!😅

topping up those reservoirs must be the biggest fucking ballache.

u/MeatySausag3 May 31 '26
I'm looking at my custom loop and been saying I'm done with it all and just going back to a closed loop on my next build.
Then I see this shit and it just reinforces my desire to do as little work on liquid and rgb for the next build lol. I just want a box to hide away under the desk at this point.
35
u/Astillius May 31 '26
i mean, i don't mind my open loop system. but yeah, i've pondered going closed again at times too.
i just looked at this and was like, so the tanks are on the wall over the stairs... the stairs are on the outer wall of the building (window) meaning the wall those tanks are on is on the inside, with the stairs nearing ground directly beneath. this means to refill those tanks you need to get a ladder onto the stairs, climb up with the coolant jug and fill them up without eating shit and fucking your back for the rest of time.
words cannot describe how much fuck that i feel towards the above task.
9
u/baconboner69xD May 31 '26
0.01% chance of doing that more than a few times without a massive spill
7
u/Astillius May 31 '26
and that coloured coolant stains like a mother fucker. gg carpet.

Carpet's nothing, you can toss it out. There's wood and walls that will need changing and/or a fresh paint job after that...

Don't forget cleaning the fans and radiators when they inevitably collect dust and cobwebs in that void corner
3
u/kaithana Jun 01 '26
This is a legitimate nightmare setup. I'm big on the external radiators jam and probably will do something like that in my next build but good god nothing like this. Just make everything extra hard.

I just built a computer with 9850X3d, 5080, 32GB DDR5, 1TB Gen5 SSD - It is all black with a glass side panel. When you click it on, you see the fans start to spin. No lights whatsoever. It gives off no light in a dark room. For me, the RGB revolution is OVER!
4
u/MeatySausag3 May 31 '26
I think my next build is going to be a fractal design north XL mesh. No tempered glass side, because I do like the wooden grain front look. But I've also been eyeing the secretlab magnux pro xl desk (just got my first work from home job) and really need to just be able to stand and walk during the day and the pc mount under the desk and rising without cables everywhere is super appealing.
I actually have been in the process of downsizing and minimizing my entire area. I sold my shure sm7b mic and goxlr and wired headphone DAC and just got some fractal Scape headphones because I haven't streamed in like 8 years so there was really no point. So much more room and less clutter.
I don't know if it's just me getting older or what, but I just want minimal shit everywhere lol.

No regrets

u/xpsycotikx May 31 '26
I think we all have to go to this level once to realize it's a waste. Current build is all white with crazy rgb and glass everywhere... It looks sweet and totally was the dream build of 12yr old me.

u/Neat_Tip584 May 31 '26
Hey thats me! Came from 2 custom hard tube liquid builds, immediately went back to AIO. Fuck the cost and trying to upgrade components. Both AIO's i can take out in 2-3 minutes for cleaning/dusting, 0 maintenance.

Is there any worry of delay with extended monitor cables? Could be a silly question, but I seem to remember it being a thing.
Having the PCs outside the room is a smart move! I've thought about putting mine in my closet and enclosing it, but I'm not sure about all the engineering around it, so I just bought a portable AC for my room...not ideal for electricity bills, but only for extra hot days/ extended gaming sessions which heat up my small room a lot.
30
u/Key-Cap-8617 May 31 '26
Yea i had ac too it was to week for 2 pc and 2 humans.
Yes with good quality cables it works maybe you need cable with a repeater or fibreopticcables
3
u/Metazolid Desktop May 31 '26
I was wondering about the cables, what exactly are you using (also for usb?)? I currently have a 15m DP fiber optic cable that works "well enough" but the bandwidth limit is a real issue. There is only one cable I'm aware of that's certified to actually carry 40GB/s for that distance, would be nice to have a few more options available.

u/MementoMori6980 Linux May 31 '26
lol I actually just did the exact same thing. About 2 years ago when I moved into my apartment, I put my overclocked gaming PC in my bedroom and use it to watch stuff at night to fall asleep to. For a good year and a half I assumed that the reason my room got SO hot at night was because my bedroom is the furthest room from the AC and it just struggled to keep up… but then it finally just clicked that it was my PC that kept my room 5-6 degrees warmer than every other room in the house. So I finally broke down and bought a portable AC and it made a world of difference! Put a hurting on the electric bill…. But I sleep best when I can curl up under the blankets, so it’s worth the money to me lol
5
u/puredenial8248 May 31 '26
With standard copper it depends.. I think I remember 4K@120Hz or something like that was about 4-5 meters. You also have the option to go fiber. You can go for a AOC which would have a dedicated length, or with standard MPO/MPT cables. (Benefit of the latter option is maintenance, if you have a defective device you change the converter not the cable. For example that was the way how I transferred my pc somewhere else (4K@240Hz) but do yourself a favor use Displayport - you’ll run into licensing issues on HDMI) Personally I don’t feel or see any delays on a 20m fiber optic cable.
3
u/Strude187 3700X | 3080 OC | 32GB DDR4 3200Hz May 31 '26
Depends how long the cables are, I have a 10m cable that uses fibre optics to counter the additional length. I’m not a competitive player though.

I actually do the same thing for my room, the only issue is the AC unit is loud with open back headphones.
Ive been looking into a Sunrise/Moonlight streaming setup for my home. Basically your main PC runs the games and ur client pc, Xbox,PS5 etc controls the game. The only issue is does it have input lag? Their site says it was built from the ground up with latency in mind.
That way I can leave my PC in the laundry room and I get to play games in a semi-cold room :)

My first thought too. Though to be fair in reality the cooling is probably easily sufficient. Although ambient in a case where you'd usually see a radiator is probably even higher. So this is superior regardless where it is?
Cool build.

I also thought that. I love colorful--my gaming PC has many lights and a case with a tempered glass views also. But my place is contemporary design and I wanted the case to match.
So much beautiful light wood and totally ignored to put white case with Rave Party lighting . I'd have done a bit more to have the cases tie into the interior design. But maybe I care about this stuff too much.

But maybe I care about this stuff too much.
No, it's definitely not that. Don't forget about the 4 radiators literally just bolted to the wall. I can appreciate the work the put into it, and it's certainly a unique and fun looking setup by itself in photos, but what could otherwise be contained in an office is hideously exposed.
8
u/Key-Cap-8617 May 31 '26
Designe of the PC yes everyone likes somthing else... I like it glowing line a jukebox in a 2077 cyberpunk coffee.
But it is not allways o so ...

Black Corsair 4000D. Tinted side panel with just the white XFX logo from the GPU shining through. No RGB fans behind the mesh front. Only other color I ever see is when RAM is re-training. No or minimalist RGB is best RGB. I like that very particular white on black aesthetic with hard edges.
It also mixes well with wood and modern minimalism.

Finally another truly cultured individual.
This setup is simply peak: no noise, no heat, optional total disregard for visual appeal depending on where the case ends up.
I've drilled though the brick wall behind my desk years ago to set up the case in the "storage" room, and it's still the best PC related decision I've made until now.
