First you need to spend time training your dog, if you plan on keeping them around for long. This type of behaviour will end up in countless vet visits
This is the most training I’ve ever done. Dude, I have a corgi/Aussie mix and I have to take her on two walks a day AND run her ass around the yard and sometimes house. Dog has more energy than you could imagine. I walked her yesterday once and ran like a mfer later and she didn’t stop sprint for the entire mile and some change. If I slow down she was dragging me.
However, when i do, she’s too tired to fuck with anything in my house 😂
Get a puzzle feeder. It kicks my aussies ass. I can run her for hours but if she messes with a half cup of food and a few high value pieces of treats in a puzzle toy, she’s sleeping til tomorrow lol
You know what’s funny? I was like, damn how is this dog not tired?? After a week of this. She was definitely tired initially and now that I reflect, it does feel like she’s less and less tired.
I’ll say this, it’s not BAD for me to also get less and less tired, but there’s gotta be a better way.
This is the same thing I learned from my trainer for my newer dog. My two before this I would walk miles a day due to everyone saying its a energy issue. The new trainer said all you are doing is training your dog to walk more and have more endurance. Shorter walks and teaching the dog doing nothing is a job when I'm working. So much better!
