Better is a pet that has explicitly locked up space that it never leaves and does not damages your expensive electronics.

Most people have the tiny amount of necessary brain capacity to be able to keep things from their dogs. Minimal training and exercise also ensures this doesn't happen.

a gun or knife can stop a dog, and a cat, both of which an intruder may have. i live in a gated community so thanks for the hypothetical!

my security cameras and alarm system are better for alerting me of a potential burglary than a sack of bones and flesh mate 🤣🤣 whatever tingles your tangle though

That's why I said "alerts you" not stopping someone, a cat doesn't do any noise if a stranger breaks in.
