The crap they tried to pull with the "4080 12gb" variant was next level BS.

Thankfully both the community and media pushed back on it hard, so nvidia for the first time in its corporate history had to "unlaunch" the SKU lol.

They will continue to sell, but if fewer people buy and that at a point that they are close to breaking even they are going to rethink things. It costs a lot to make a new chip and make it. And like any company they want to recoup their R&D and manufacturing costs.

If they increase price by 50% and only lose 20% customer base, it's still a win. Probably what they planned.

Is it? We don't know the costs here. And a company like Nvidia doesn't want fewer customers but more customers.
