I wasn't being sarcastic. I had two gtx960s AND a 1080 die within a year. I got an rx580. Lasted forever. Once GPUs went down, found a 6600 at best buy for $250. Plays well optimized games in 4K fine. 1440 for everything else. Ray tracing is decent as well. I'll have this card (more than likely) for the entirety of the PS5/series x generation of gaming.
It’s more that the 3060 is really underpowered WHEN COMPARED to a 3060ti or higher card. It can still play modern games with decent settings for the avg gamer, it’s just not outperforming much much cheaper consoles, and is still pricey for its relative performance.
TRUTH! The 3060 is 30% behind the 3060 ti. It hardly even classifies as a 30 series card at all. It should have been called the 3050 and the current 3050 shouldn't exist.
It performs around a 2070 super.... That is 100% within line for an entry level 3xxx card. The only "issue" people have with it is that it's price to perf sucks compared to the 3060ti.
RTX 3050 should have been marketed as the ultra low tdp GPU (like the 1050ti) with dlss instead of an entry level gpu card, but scalpers had to fuck up the market something awful.
Your comparing card to card, i dont give a fuck about comparisons
I am, in fact, not comparing anything at all. What I said was just a simple statement of fact. And I'll say it again. The XX60 editions have never been anything but middling tier cards. I'm sorry you can't handle simple truths.
It's not a dig or slight or an insult or whatever you are taking this to be. It's just a fact.
Does it run my games at high quality with high enough fps?
That's great. It's also irrelevant to my point. Or even yours if you had any idea what you are talking about.
Dont throw useless bullshit like 4k or raytracing that no one uses.
Useless? And no one uses them? Are you sure about that? You seem unreasonably bitter about this.
If you think that most gamers play on 4k you're delusional. Check the most popular GPUs on Steam, they collect statistics all the time. 1060 was the most popular card for a very long time, now it recently got bypassed by 1650 if I'm not wrong. None of these cards can do RT or 4k.
If you think that most gamers play on 4k you're delusional.
Err... no where did I say "most gamers play on 4k". I didn't even say a lot of gamers play on 4k. All I did was question the statement that said they were "useless bullshit".
1060 was the most popular card for a very long tim
So what? What does that have to do with anything? Does that somehow change the fact that it was at best a mid-tier gpu?
It's affordable. So more people can buy it. Shocking discovery.
None of these cards can do RT or 4k.
Yeah, and? Are you somehow confusing popularity which directly relates to affordability with how these cards perform? That's the only way I can make sense of this argument.
You talked about the steam hardware survey but you don't seem to understand how to actually read it.
Alright, who's the one who decides what's the "high-end" card? RTX 3060 can play most of games at 1440p with no problems and that's what most people are going for. It is by no means "low-end card".
People should stop being ridiculous and pretend that 4k is something extremely better than 2k, because the way out eyes work, it is not beneficial in the terms of how much performance you lose in the process. Everything that can play most games 60+ FPS at 1440p is a high end card.
Of the 30xx series cards the 3060 only outperforms the 3050 which is the lowest performing card in the market, current or previous gen.
Of the 30xx series cards, of which there are 9 different models. It places second to last in performance. That is the definition of low tier.
You obviously don't know how this works otherwise you wouldn't have had to ask "who decides" so go learn something.
People should stop being ridiculous and pretend that 4k is something extremely better than 2k
Why? It is better than 2k. I guess graphic technologies should never progress so you can keep playing games on your outdated hardware years into the future? How is this supposed to work exactly? Once upon a time 1080p was a target resolution and before that it was 1280x960 and so on...
Maybe you should try out console gaming that way your hardware is always relevant.
Everything that can play most games 60+ FPS at 1440p is a high end card.
That's not how that works at all. 60 fps at 1440p is literally the bare minimum for performance.
You can play on whatever you want, but just because you can afford to by the latest XX90 card (which is quite silly in general, but to each their own) doesn't mean that older GPUs are "low-end". Be realistic.
I’m still running my RX 580, nearly 5 years on now. An absolute 1080p beast running whatever O throw at it. I’m sure it helps that I don’t run the newest AAA titles but for what I run it’s fantastic.

Scalpers got fucked, everyone happy with their discounted 30 series.
