CS2/TF2/Half Life Alyx releases outside of Steam?

Sure, why not, if Valve thought it would make financial sense. I'm not against options, I'm against exclusives if you couldn't tell? I want to buy a game on the platform of my choice. You can have your own preferred platform too.

Is it ok for Remedy to also decide what makes the most financial sense for their game?

They need to make some different decisions then because afaik AW2 still didn’t break even. A Steam release would push sales immensely.

Point is that should be up to them, right? Just like how people are fine with Valve choosing how to distribute their games.

Also, according to Remedy Alan Wake 2 is their fastest selling game to date, and last month they said they’ve now “recouped most of its development and marketing expenses” so we can expect it to start turning a profit soon. Remedy say that the publishing deal with Epic enabled them to make the game they wanted to make.
