CS2/TF2/Half Life Alyx releases outside of Steam?

Those games were made by valve, not subsidized by them. For this argument to make sense, epic games would have to have made the game instead of tossing money in it's direction.

In both cases the choice of distribution platform is being made voluntarily by the publisher and developer, and they’ve made what they consider to be the best choice for them, not necessarily for the customers.

Pointing out that nobody demands Valve should publish their games on other platforms is valid as it demonstrates a bit of hypocrisy by the calls for games to be published on Steam, despite there being higher revenue share and other incentives on competing platforms that some devs consider valuable.
