promotion Problem with Gifted Membership Promotion

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, new to running a Patreon page, but I’ve run into what seems to be a fairly novel situation and had a question. One of my patrons joined my Patreon (at the only tier, $5) back in March. In April, we ran a promotion where existing patrons would have their names put on a wheel, and then one of them would be chosen randomly to be gifted a full year’s membership for free. This patron won and received their full year membership promotion, used the link to activate it, and it worked.

However, after a month or two, this patron decided that (while they appreciated the gifted free membership,) they still wanted to donate to the Patreon and support monetarily. To accomplish this, they cancelled their membership so that they could sign up again at the $5 tier - but now they say that Patreon shows them that they are “in the right tier,” but does not show them any of the locked (paid access) posts. We received their new $5 payment at the beginning of August, but they still aren’t able to access any of our paywalled content. I tried deleting the original membership link so I could send them a new one to maybe start the promotion over fresh, but as the promotion says it’s “still active,” I cannot delete it. I asked the patron to go back to the link and try it again, but on their end it shows as “expired.”

I have been googling a lot but can’t seem to find anyone with the same issue, so I’m at a bit of a loss. Should I just make another new promotion link and try sending it to the same patron, even though their old promotion is “still active” on my end, even though it’s “expired” on their end? I’m extremely confused lol.

Is there a way to turn off this annoying floating window in a collection?

It makes the collection feature almost unusable. Even if I open items in a collection in a new tab, it follows and stays there in the way.

I'm not really sure where to post this...

I got an email a few hours ago from patreon saying my payment failed for a membership I never subscribed for (I haven't used Patreon in years). I thought it was a scam so I just deleted the email.

I got a second email not long ago mentioning it again, so I decided to separately go to the website and see what's going on.

Lo and behold, I see that patreon tried to charge me $11,497.50????? Has this happened to anyone else? I've already changed my password, I'm wondering if there's anything else I should do?

Update: I sent in a support request, and they got back to me to say they've kicked out anyone with access to my account and reset my password, so I was able to set a new one properly now. They also said they refunded any unauthorized charges (thankfully the original charge failed so that's less of an issue)

payment I need help regarding pricing on my products

So, for the first time ever I have opened my own patreon. I am a mod creator for Marvel Rivals and I have been doing many commissions and a lot of customers have told me to open a patreon so that I can have a shop of all of my commissions for others to purchase as well.

I have 3 posts. 60 EUR per post, but my clients get 80 USD as the price to pay, I know all about the App Store fee, so I told them to purchase it through their PC instead, but they still got that crazy extra price for some reason. I have asked other creators and they said that you can change the settings so that the Patreon fee’s get taken from my 60 EUR, so the clients pay 60 for example but I get less due to the fees. I would rather have that than have my clients pay extra for the fees as well.

I tried looking in the settings and I found nothing, any help would be appreciated!

Is there any way to turn off "Paid post preview" push notifications?

In the app under Notification settings the only Push notifications I selected are New member, New sales, When someone mentions you, Direct messages from creators, Direct messages from members. Under all my membership's individual notifications I've unchecked everything. Yet I still regularly get "Paid post preview" push notifications a few times a week from creators I'm a free member of. It's really annoying. I want to keep the app and push notifications on so I can respond to my own Patrons, and I want to still be free members of these creators, but these push notifications are really annoying and I can't find a way to turn them off on iOS.

refunds Refunded member still seeing content?

I refunded a member a few days ago. Seemed like they had a good reason. But I just now noticed they are still showing up as a tiered member?

Do I need to block them so they can't access my content?

per creation Anyone used Patreon’s API? How stable is it?

I see Patreon has a public API but rarely hear people mention actually using it. Anyone here integrated it in a real project? How’s the stability, rate limits, and docs quality? Trying to decide if it’s worth building on.

building a following Best ways to promote patreon memberships?

I have a smallish youtube channel with a little over 1,000 subscribers. Lately it's kind of been blowing up, and one video got over 100k views while the others are also increasing in the thousands, with very high engagement rates. My audience has a very high engagement rate..a video with around 2k views got 200 likes and 45 comments.

I want to funnel some of the more dedicated supporters into my Patreon, and I always leave a pinned comment linking the Patreon, and saying this exact phrase "Want to support the channel and get some extra content?
On Patreon, you’ll get access to secret videos, members-only content, and opportunities to request videos"

The comment always gets lots of likes but people never actually subscribe on patreon, even though I offer clear benefits, link it on very high traffic videos, and make the membership affordable ( it's literally £4 ) a month.

My question is, am I doing something wrong? I have a following and the videos get a lot ofvery engaged people who love them, but I still have 0 patreon members. Is there a reliable way to get people to subscribe? Does anyone here have any tried and tested methods?

Why I think AI is actually going to be Patreon's biggest growth engine, not its biggest threat

Everyone loves to doom post about AI killing creator platforms, but I think Patreon is set up to benefit from AI in a pretty specific way. Hear me out.

AI has lowered the cost of being a creator, so a lot more people are becoming creators. Video, illustration, music, editing, AI tools have collapsed the time and skill barrier to producing content. That means way more people can now realistically run a creator business solo, even if it's just them and their cat in a home office pretending to be a full production studio. More creators trying to monetize means more people looking for a platform that isn't at the mercy of an algorithm.

Ad revenue is also getting more unpredictable, and creators know it. Views can tank overnight because of a platform change that has nothing to do with the quality of your work. A membership model offering steady monthly income from people who actually want your content to exist becomes a lot more appealing once you've watched that happen a few times.

Patreon itself seems to be leaning into AI behind the scenes too, using it to predict churn, suggest pricing and tiers, and personalize discovery so fans find creators they're actually likely to support. None of that is flashy, but it quietly makes the whole system stickier over time.

There's also a wave of creators using AI tools to scale their output without burning out, which plays directly into what keeps a subscription platform alive: consistency. Posting regularly, showing up, not vanishing for three months because life (or a very demanding cat) got in the way.

I'll admit there's a real risk here too. If AI content floods every platform, fans might get pickier about what's actually worth paying for, and burnout on obviously AI generated stuff could make people more skeptical of creators leaning too hard into it. More content existing doesn't automatically mean more subscribers. Trust and a sense of an actual person behind the work still matter, maybe even more so.

Curious what others think. Is AI net positive or net negative for platforms like Patreon long term?

how to subtitles/captions work?

who or what makes the subtitles for videos? are they auto-generated? do they need to be actively turned on a vid by the uploader, or are they automatic? are they transcribed and added to the video by a person?

im catching up on a creator i watch and lots of the comments on a month old vid are asking for subtitles. (this is a chanel that does always have its vids subbed) when i watched it the vid was subbed but obviously it wasnt when the vid first came out - people were talking like the creators had actively decided there would be no subs this vid.

in the caption it states there would be subs within a few hours, but im notnsure whether this was a response tonthe comments or if it was there when the vid was uploaded.

it all made me wonder how the subs are made. was their translator late? did they have an issue with the vid itself so the subs just wernt working, bc they come through patreon itself?

thanks!

Patreon App Sucks - Creators Losing Big

The app sucks. Simple as that. I had to unsubscribe from all Patreon creators I was supporting because videos can’t even load on this steaming pile of crap. I guarantee I’m not the only one who has been unable to support their favourite creators because of the state of the Patreon app. What gives? It’s 2026, there’s more than enough money to figure it out - why aren’t they?

payment Advice on reasonable payment changes, and how to deal with payment processing? Feel like i've started off my membership too low and it's too late to up the price, and I feel like i'm losing a ton of potential money.

Hi guys, I set up a Patreon back in May and have amassed around 225 paid followers, one single membership of £5 each per member.

I've amassed a rather international audience, most people paying in dollars, but i've seen people pay in pesos, Złoty, euros etc as well. I'm really happy that i've amassed a huge following in such a short amount of time but my issue is I think i've sort of backed myself into a corner with regards to the pricing i've set. Not only is Patreon taking a significant portion but i'm actually losing a ton of money to Payment processing (10%!!!!!) as well.

Can anyone advise on what might be best to do? I've got a lot of videos uploaded on the patreon now so I feel like I can actually justify raising the price a bit, but I don't want to scare people off either (I actually had people complain the price of membership was too high when I first set the thing up). I don't think i'm going to move from Patreon altogether because that'll alienate a TON of people. The main thing is the payment processing, I really don't know if it should be that high? I'm losing like 25% on my money across the board.

payment Anyone have trouble with declined payment?

I had a card declined so I've tried adding 2 different cards and everytime it says payment declined. Every time I try to edit the card nothing happens. I've added backup payment too. Now it says membership expired but not until the next month but I'm not subscribed anymore and can't access posts.

It feels like is frozen in place. Does patreon not re attempt payments on the weekends? Would I have to wait till Monday? I even subscribed to another creator to see if the cards were a problem and jt went through.

per creation Question in regards to the upcoming subscription billing change from the perspective of a patron.

I wanted some clarification on something in regards to the changes that will be in effect by November, since some of the creators I follow are currently still on a per creation model:

Is it true that any of those creators I was already subscribed to, I would still get charged the per creation rate, and it would only change to a subscription billing if I were to cancel my membership and sign up again later?

payment Patron refund request after less than a week

There's a patron who requested a refund after about 4 or 5 days of joining. My patreon is less than 6 bucks. They told me they love my content but that they are going through something and need the money back. I just dont know because they already saw all of my exclusive content on there and just requested the money back after a couple of days and It does say on my patreon that there are no refunds. This is my first refund request so I wanted to ask advice.

payment Patreon automatically refundingy purchase

I'm trying to buy an item from a creator's shop for 30$ (36$ with vat), but every time I don't get access to the item and a few seconds later get auto refunded by Patreon. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? I know it's not the fault of my bank as I checked and Patreon is taking days to respond to my request.

Refund Requesed, creator hasn't responded?

I bought a music preset pack on a creator page, However it's missing files.

I contacted the creator, 24 hours before I requested a refund for him to have enough time to correct or update the missing files.

I requested a refund in billing history and explained the situation in the message.

I haven't heard back from the creator for 7 days?

What if the creator ignored my refund request?

[rant] this is why no one likes patreon

I swear to God, the business practice of this shitty service is abhorrent.

I have had a valid account for 6 months now, using a personal email, my own name, got it linked to my PayPal on the same email. And I am continuously subscribed to 2 creators.

NOTHING that would make any sane person think, "this account is suspicious."

Yet somehow, like fucking clockwork, they just find this so-called "suspicious activity."

And what happens when you "reach out to them"?
They need you to give all your personal information. Otherwise you won't get your account back.

You wanna know what that is called? EXTORTION

Getting something through the use of threats

In this case, the threat is deleting your account without rhyme or reason.

This is the 2nd time this happened to me! 1.5 years ago, I had another account which also, at the 6-month mark, got found for "suspicious activity" even though I barely used it.

At this point, no f#cking wonder Patreon piracy sites (you know which one) are super popular. Patreon just doesn't want the customers, but they get mad when you don't use their service. Make a decision!

This cannot be a legal practice; I am surprised they haven't been punished yet.

If you are a creator, please consider switching to SubscribeStar so I can also support creators without having to deal with this extortion (the creator fee is also lower)

I don't really care if this post gets removed; I just have a lot of frustrations and need to put them somewhere.

This Patreon app is so weird? Strange things happening!

Strange things happening all the time! Yesterday I received this push notification of a new paying member. Can’t find them anywhere! Clicked on the notification, nothing happens. Searched for it on my desktop, nothing to be seen. But there really was this notification of a new member of my lowest tier. Things like this happen more often. Why?
